Fantastic start to intern year: I failed to put my degree (MD, PhD) on my lab coat order form so I do not have a degree written on my coat. Is it possible to return my white coat to the company to get the embroidery fixed? I'm waiting for the program admin to get back to me, but I wanted to see if anybody else made a similar dumb mistake.

Don't even worry about it.

Write it in with a sharpie if you feel that strongly about it. Your badge will list your degrees anyway. My program didn't even bother to get our names stitched on our white coats altogether (only program in the hospital without it).

Just get it fixed when you get your next set of coats. No big deal.

yeah you should get a new set each year (I would hope. If you boil them on the stove you get the MRSA off)

get pocket protectors

I got one set of white coats intern year that was expected to last me through the entirety of residency, so don't be surprised if you never get a second set. Pretty much didn't wear it the last six months.

That said, of all the things to worry about, this isn't a big deal. Whether you can get it added on is going to depend on your own programs policy and relationship with whomever did the embroidery, but when all is said and done, no one will really care what your coat says. Promise.

you can hardly even see the embroidery above the pocket of mine because of the pocket protector, Maxwells, sterile wrapped swabs & tongue depressors, etc etc I have in the pocket. Oh yeah, my badge is attached right there that says "DOCTOR" so it's all good

I mean sure, it's helpful to wear something that says you're a doctor, hopefully the white coat and a badge can get the job done

I feel ya OP, you worked hard for the title sooooo.....

if you're in Raryn's sitch with coats, your program can usually help you order another set, at least with the intern coats if nothing else, but aside from error on the part of the program or company, (and even then), expect to have to pay unless they pleasantly surprise you

As an Intern I didn't even have a name on my white coat-none of the Medicine Interns did. That was a distinct privilege reserved for a PGY-II Resident or higher. Apparently we were not worthy of this honor and had to pay our dues first.
