Hi all.

Yesterday I had an appointment at UDM to go over the application process and know where I'm standing as far as my GPA goes and what else do I need to increase my chances. I met with Dr. Jeffers (director of admissions at UDM). He looked at my transcripts and told me that I have good grades, and went over pretty much everything that's important in the application process.. he also advised me to take some upper level science courses along with the physics classes that I still need to take... is it really necessary to take more science classes? I pretty much have most of the science courses he suggested from my BSc, plus I work at two hospital labs and don't have so much time to take more classes! my plan right now is to focus hard on the DAT.

As far as extracurriculars, I didn't really join any clubs but I volunteered at a school and I also did science and math tutoring at my college, would this be sufficient?

So you talked to the director of something and they told you to take more classes. Then you go to SDN and say you dont want to take those classes?

What is the point of meeting with that director?

My thoughts exactly...

He didn't say that I definitely should but just suggested it if I want to increase my chances. I just don't want to feel like I'm missing something that would really affect my chances as I already have good grades and many science courses. Anyway, nevermind my question!!!

how many students do you think the director met with yesterday? I wonder if he can narrow you down.

Let me ask you this:
If you have a 3.6 with a 21AA and 300 hours of EC...

Will your chances increase if your GPA goes up by .1?
Will your chances increase if your AA goes up by 1?
Will your chances increase if your EC hours increase by 100?

The truth is, you can always make yourself a more attractive applicant. 😉
