To everybody that has already taken the DAT and scored well on the VR section did you use the kaplan method of numbering the paragraphs and then try to summarize each paragraph for a quick reference to find answers or did you just read all the questions first and attemp to find answers?

Whoops just read further on the main dat discussions page and somebody else just pretty much asked this same question...Well thanks for the suggestions.

I took some achiever tests and I found that writing down some information on the paragraphs was the fastest way to get through it since achiever was long and complex.

The actual thing was a whole lot easier. I started out mapping it out on the first one and I didnt really need to use it since I remembered most of the passage by finding a few answers. Then I abandoned the mapping method and just started looking for answers. I thought it was very simple. Good luck.

there are many methods that you can find by searching... which method you use depends on you. i use the hunt method where i would just read the question and hunt for the answer. if i got a question that was inference i would select B and mark it and come back to it after i answered all questions in that passage. you have about a minute per questions so you have to be efficient no matter what method you choose.

good luckkkk

jB!

I used a modified version of the Kaplan roadmpa method where i wrote down the gist of the paragrpah in 3-4 words and then a few keywords. The biggest thing for me was to try to speedread through the passage and roadmap it in ~8 mins, then spend no more than 10 mins answering the questions. After the three passages I had like 6-8 mins left to double check any marked answers and look again at the tricky inference questions.

The real thing had like 14 or 15 paragraphs per passage and was not too long at all, very comparable to topscore (where I got 22-25) but harder than acheiver (where I got 25, 25, 28). Also the font of the passage was much smaller than I expected, too.
