Do you guys ever have moments where school on top of everything else becomes overwhelming and stress levels are at max? How do you personally handle it?

I usually work out at the gym everyday, but lately I've been feeling too exhausted to go. Yet, if I don't go, I feel pretty lousy. 🙁

I used to be in karate and kickboxing, I LOVED IT!!! But I do not have the time to dedicate 2-3 nights per week to keep up at it. Let me tell you, I was exhausted after I left the dojo, but I walked out of there stress free!!! I wish I had the time. I think once I get into pharmacy school, and when I start dorming, I would like to get back into it if I have the time again when I don't have other obligations to worry about besides school.

oh yeah, naps are always good too- I wish I were back in the preschool kindergarten days where if you got cranky and tired, they'd just put you to bed for an hour or so. 🙂

I lift weights to relieve stress and I play video games. Now, handling stress the night before an interview (like tonight) when Im freaking out? That I would like some advice on.

YEah, I used to be pretty good. I think I still could kick the ordinary person's @$$ today, I don't know, Im pretty out of shape. I went to tournaments, brought home several 1st,2nd, and third place trophies back in the day. Tournaments usually had about 15 fighters give or take a few- I think there was only once or twice I didn't get a trophy.

Ok...was just checking.

Won't mess with ya.. don't wanna get my arse kicked by a young lady.

I have to second working out at a gym. I am a health person anyways, but during my times of stress/suffering/sadness, I always enjoy lifting more. When I'm in that gym for 1 hr 30 min, nothing bothers me.

Except that old man who hogs the bench for 20 minutes while reading his newspaper in between sets. Now that stresses me out! :scared:

mmmmmm...makes my mouth water.

I know it's not the healthiest habit, but when i was stressing about doing my apps, i started smoking the week before i turned them in. I knew it was bad but I just needed a crutch since i had isolated myself from my friends in order to focus on my apps. But once I finished the apps and esubmitted them I made sure to quit.
However, I don't necessarily recommend this method b/c i crave it sometimes, but I just make sure not to indulge in it.

I also had a couple lists on my itunes of music that relaxed me, most were from episodes of Scrubs. I would also play checkers online but when I would lose, that would stress me out even more.

Good Luck. Handle the stress in stride, now I go to the gym instead of reaching for the cigarettes.

Do you have a dog? If you do or even if you dont, take a nice long walk when it is a nice day - Ofcourse walking the dog always seems to help relieve stress for me and the😍 puppy dog.

Gotten me by many nights when the GF and school are stressin me

My study breaks consist of tv watching. 😳 I think it's the best way to let your mind relax/vegetate for a lil bit. Just be sure you either Tivo'd or downloaded them... that way you don't waste time watching commercials.
My breaks consist of:
Nip Tuck
Lost
24
Prison Break
Battlestar Galactica
Heroes
Hoebag's Anatomy
House MD

Apathy works for me... grades aren't the most important thing to me.. hell they're probably down at #4 or #5 on my list (this is my pharm school attitude).

Pre pharmacy I was all about getting a 4.0 and blah blah -- but that was just to get in. Pretty much I wouldn't get stressed out until the day before a test.... i'd study for 6-7 hrs straight (having not looked at the material for the previous weeks) and just take the test. Hell I think I was only stressed taking maybe 1 test.. and only because I knew I hadn't covered the material well.

Find things to take your mind off the work. The gym is great... try going out with friends more, shoot pool, do whatever.

I like your suggestions Matt... I know I shouldn't stress over grades since it really doesn't matter anymore once we get out! Then again, I'm stressing over our biochem final on Monday because I really just started studying today. :scared:

Mmm...try meditation if you can't get to the gym. You don't necessarily have to sit there for 10 minutes with your eyes closed, just utilize the basic principle. When you're feeling particularly stressed, stop everything you're doing, clear your head and breath deeply for a little while. It helps to just let go of reality for a short period of time.

Generally though, the gym is the ultimate stress reliever. =D

meditation is great!
