Methyl Sulfide vs. Methanol

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi:

Why is methyl sulfide considered a stronger nucleophile than methanol?

Thanks!

Nucleophilicity trends are opposite electronegativity trends. Oxygen is more electronegative than sulfur and thus less nucleophilic. (Basically, oxygen wants it's electrons more and is less likely to share.)
