Sure, everything will be emphasized but not to the same degree which is why I think it's important to have an idea of what to focus on. Probably not relevant for people matching but incoming med students should likely be cognizant of what factors determine the specialty they can match into.

Not saying this article is the end all be but it's something to consider.
 
I wonder if now more than ever what will be thought as important will splinter based on specialty choice. Step one was and now step two will become the great equalizer, the one exam that puts everyone in the same arena, but I imagine a specialty like Family Medicine and neurosurgery will reassign importance in different ways.
