This thread's purpose is to keep track of those last few programs that have not sent confirmations for dates.

As I understand for BID, you made the reservation on the system and got an e-mail instantly after finding the date you wanted.

Other ones still pending:
A) UPenn (sent 11/09/2009)
- anyone heard from UPenn? 😕
B) MGH and BWH will probably be confirmed next week (sent 11/12/2009)
C) Boston University (sent 11/05/2009)
- don't know what is the issue here

I received an invite to Cornell on 11/09/09 and still haven't had a date confirmed.

Just call BU, for some reason they don't notify you right away.

I heard from Penn but it took a couple of days. I don't know if they e-mail people who requested the early dates first. Maybe give them another day or two and then call?

Received invite from UPenn - 11/9/09
Submitted date request - 11/9/09

Confirmation - 11/11/09

I received an invite to Cornell on 11/09/09 and still haven't had a date confirmed.

Just FYI, I got an early invite from Cornell, sent my request back within a day and after not hearing anything for a week I emailed their PC directly just to make sure they were working on it. My request had never been received for some reason, even though I am sure I sent it to the correct email. So you might want to check on it.

Cornell took four or five days to get a confirmation back.

BID confirmed instantly (you select the date online).

Still awaiting confirmations from MGH, BWH, Penn.

How long did it take to get your Stanford confirmation back? I (foolishly) waited for about five days before e-mailing my choice of dates

You've got to love the way these "elite" programs can just **** with their applicants. Doesn't impress me too much. Pretension is not attractive IMHO, but some of you are gluttons for punishment.

Good luck 😀

You're back from the future.

Loved the comment 🙂

This is true. Nice set of interviews you've got. Won't be too hard to rank - everywhere is top notch 😀

Thanks.

My least favorite Roman is status quo, so I'm not calling anything before I visit all programs. It is irresponsible to rank programs just because of prestige. You have to make sure you are both a good fit, or else it's going to be an unpleasant three years.

It was like that time everyone told me Lord of the Rings was the best movie ever. I went to see it and hated it. Just imagine if I signed a contract to see all three of those movies how painful it would have been... so signing your life away for three years is serious business.

I don't know, so far, residents all seem to be happy, regardless of the programs reputation. It seems like, although I have no proof, that they drug up the residents so they seem like the are enjoying everything the program has to offer. For me, the deciding factor is going to be geography. I don't want to do my residency in a place my spouse is going to despise!

But you do bring up a good point. I don't think I will fit in in any program if the residents didn't LOVE Lord of the Rings! I think I should start asking residents that from now on

The books were great... movie not so much... but it's more of an analogy about the gravity of ranking a program high just because of some nebulous acclaim. I think by the end of the process we will all be fond of a couple of programs and just have to decide how to rank them based on numerous other factors.

It is hard to know the real story if the residents like the program or not. There are sometimes subtle clues.

Most internal medicine programs are great, and your training will be proportional to the work and dedication that you place into your career.

Very well said. This is not the first time that I have heard this sentence in this week.

Which is why it's nice to be in your position and easy to rank. You will be able to rank based SOLEY on where you liked because all of them are great from a reputation perspective.

I ranked solely based on my gut reaction of the programs and I found a place where I currently thrive

I immediately replied back to Stanford's invite, but still haven't been confirmed. I tried to call on Wed or Thursday of last week, but got blown off by the PC. Anyone else still waiting to be confirmed by them?

anyone receive any date confirmations from the Brigham yet? I replied to them last thursday

I responded about a week after the invite. Got an e-mail confirming yesterday they received the scheduling request but have not had the date finalized yet.

anything from MGH? BI's system was so much easier...and the NY programs have been pretty responsive (once they offer interviews, that is) compared to the aforementioned programs... :|

According to the MGH email they will start notifying people of dates on 11/20 and will begin with the earlier dates. So I wouldn't stress about not hearing back yet!

MGH this evening (8:30 EST?!)
