I have got 3 interviews so far from MGH/BWH/Mayo but I am really confused wich hospital is the best for surgery residency program. I am interested in fast track GS 4yrs then 3 yrs CT surgery? Do you have any ideas or suggestions please?

Thank you

what is going on guys?! 77 viewers and no answers, even one? Am I asking a mysterious question?

Well:

1) threads are often viewed by some who have no advice or interest in the topic
2) simply posting a question doesn't mandate a response
3) I am not aware of anyone who is a resident at any of these programs, so might be better to take a look when you get there
4) "best" for residency is highly subjective

If you haven't seen it already, this article provides some relevant info.

Thank you for the time you took to read and to respond back, but I have some comments on it:

1: I didn't post this threat to get viewed by those who are not interested. I know it's still a possibility that some people just passing by, but when I posted I wanted the reply from thoes who are interested and got any ideas or thoughts.

2😛osting a question doesn't mandate a resonse. That's true, but it should be obvious that it is a question and any question asked is not asked from the point of having spare time or luxury typing skills.. or just for sake knowledge. It was asked cause its asnwere is imprtant to me. So every question in this world has to get answere. If not.. cause of lack or interst from some people, or difficult to give the right answer from others, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have an answer. It is there but simply we didn't search for it for some individualised reason(s).

3: I appreaciate your honesty in part three, and for sure the last decision is for me. But you know, I would like to look at it from different prospectives, so better to consider what others might have seen based on their expereinces. Thus, I don't have to go through a regret establishing process later.

4: That's true also. But what I meant by best is from the viewer point of view. If s/he is in the same situation, what definition s/he would like to put for best program and why. I know it is a variable item, but for the same reason in point 3, this question came up. Thus, I would be able to compare between what I got and what they got, in a trial to reach a balanced decision based on all factors to be considered.

Thank you for the link I have already saw it, the matter of fact, the number of hospitals for the integrated program is not updated in that article as there are couple more hospitals are registered in ERAS.

Thank you again and have a good weekend

I just wanted to add that this thread still active, and please if you have any ideas or thought, please don't hesitate in posting as your time permits.

Thank you.

i didn't respond because I could only think of sarcastic, smart-@ss answers, and I didn't think it would help.

Question: do you have interviews for categorical positions, or preliminary positions? You don't really seem to have a command of the english language, which makes me assume you're an IMG...plus it's weird to have your lack of understanding this deep into the interview season.

That being said, I wish you luck in your endeavors.

In the OP's defense, MElSorady has been active on the Integrated CT threads and has been communicating with programs, so I'm not sure it's a lack of understanding about them. Sounds kinda like "rate these programs" question looking for opinions.

Having said that, I don't know much about any of them. I think other threads have mentioned the low trauma volume at Mayo. Doesn't MGH stand for "Man's Greatest Hospital?" I guess you have your answer then! 😀

Thank you for your recent reposnes. Yes, you guessed it right. I am an IMG. The posint is I found their GS program really competative compared to others. That's why I am looking for ''rank'' kind of question. I just wanted to know how AMG think about programs and why. As I said before it varies from one to another, but better to look from a broad view, so you would consider evrything when you make a plan.

The interviews I got are both, categorical and preliminary.

Thank you dienekes88, I got your point.

The question is, after all the research/reading you've done on the programs (from residents/fellows/attendings/websites), how would YOU rank them?

I have an idea on how I can rank them. It is not a problem, I am just afriad of missing an valued infomation one of you guys here might have. Again, I don't like to look at things from closed angle. I would rather open my eyes wide, and consider many things others may be in others' minds.

Thank you for your note.
