I've been following along for a while, and thought I would drop a line. I appreciate all the help/insight from these forums as I have gone through med school and interviews...

I just came back from MGH interview, and was surprised to see that I really liked it! What did others think? I would be curious to know. The panel interview (well I guess, 2 of them) weren't nearly as bad as I thought, and I thought that the residents seemed awesome.

Thoughts?

What did/didn't you like?

What kinds of things did they ask at the panel?

Specifically I thought that the residents were really nice, friendly, good people. There was also a huge turnout of attendings at the lunch, and they also seemed great. Case volume and resident autonomy were seemingly highlights as well.

The worst question I was asked on the panel was walk me thru a whipple... ugh!

heard chairman and program director leaving??

Given this it wouldn't be suprising, but I couldn't find any documented source of that being true. When programs are put on probation, there is often a faculty leadership shake-up, whether because of real problems (which were ignored or not properly addressed) or the program looking for scapegoats.

The chairman is retiring, and it will take 1-2 years to find a replacement and get them moved in. The PD is not leaving according to what they are marketing at the interview.
