Dear forum members & colleagues,

I'd like to ask your opinion regarding comparison of 2 MHA programs in Canada.
At the moment I am admitted to 2 MHA programs - in Ottawa (Telfers School of Management / Ottawa University) and in Halifax (School of Public Health / Dalhousie University).
Our preliminary decision was to choose Telfer but we're a bit unsure about it.

I've made some comparison as follows:
- ranking of the university - better Dalhousie (??)
- MHA accreditation - Dalhousie has bith CAHME & AUPHA, Telfer has no specific MHA approval (neither CAHME nor AUPHA), just 3 non-specofoc MBA accreditations
- year of business school foundation - better Ottawa (1969 vs. 1982 of Dalhousie)
- feedback in the Internet - better Dalhousie (but I hadn't found any reasonable analysis - just negative junk from the persons in negative mood)
- prestige and potential of the region - better Ottawa (capital; Ontario is much more economically positive region, Halifax is a bit economically depressive)
- price - Dalhousie is much cheaper, but education is always the investment, so I'm not going to consider the price issue as the most important
- attention of the staff - Dalhousie is better
- attention of the program director - I had the series of telecons with the MHA Program Director from Telfer (1st call initiated by himself), nothing comparable from Dalhousie
- level of overall university support for the entering student - Dalhousie is better
- weather & ecology - much better in Halifax (ocean shore, not too cold/hot etc.)
- perspectives of getting the job after the course in Canada - just can't understand (I'm not going to immigrate and have a very nice job in another country (Europe) - but I perfectly understand that this is maybe the most important criterion of the university/business school).
- as fas as I understand the provincial immigration programs are more friendly in Ontario that in Nova Scotia (you don't need job offer to apply for the permanent residence) but that's not the point for me at the moment.

I am very interested in your opinion regarding my small Telfer vs. Dalhousie comparison - maybe other MHA programs are much better but I have these 2 options at the moment (I admitted also to University of Alberta but couldn't provide original transcripts in time).

What program would you choose in such a situation?

Thanks everybody for your attention - this is my 1st thread at the forum and I'm sorry if I'm too long with my post.

Hi there,Congratulations on acceptance in both universities. In Canada, till this year, there were only 3 MHA programs accredited by CAHME :UBC,Dalhosuie and Tefler's.I am shocked to see now Dal and U.of Toronto only.I applied in Dalhousie only,as i didn't have GMAT for Tefler.I am going to Dal for fall 2012.As Tefler's MHA is not on CAHME list,i would suggest you not wasting your time and money on it,because its the basic requirement, for further career opportunities (fellowships /jobs internships).MHA from CAHME accredited institute is must for us.Dalhousie has affiliations with European agencies too, nice residency program, not expensive program. As i am an international student,so i can't compare it with other universities. If there is any further question about Dal,you can ask on facebook page of AHAS (association of health administration students).tc
