hey, i have an interview at Michigan next week and i was wondering if anyone could tell me the set up of the interview? in the email they said something like they are gonna make u read various things and then discuss the prompts with a prof? is that true?

my other interviews were really chill so this one has me a bit worried.

any help would be great,
thanks 🙂

there are going to be 10 stations
you are going to read an article and discuss with the interviewer for about 8 minutes

Good Luck

It is called a Multiple Mini Interview or MMI. It sounds pretty scary, but was actually quite pleasant. You will rotate through 10 stations and have a discussion about a topic of upcoming importance in the field of Dentistry. You will be given time to read a Scenario and then will be given 5-10 minutes to "discuss" it with a member of the admissions committee, a dental student, professor, or other person (part of the faculty that may not be part of the School of Dentistry, or so it appeared). I quite liked it and was by far my favorite interview. Most of the interviewers are pretty laid back and like it when you can give well-thought, intelligent discussion about the scenarios.

Good luck, it really is a good experience so don't sweat it!

Michigan MMI is soooo fun 🙂 My favorite interview by far 🙂

yeah, i had a great time there too
Love the interviewers
by the end of it, I feel the school really got to know me really well

thanks everyone! do you recommend reading up about current dental issues/innovations, or can the questions be answered without a lot of Wikipedia-ing haha

The more "reading-up" that you do before the better; however, I don't see how you are going to feasibly study up on all of the issues that might be presented in some of the scenarios. Many of them are hypothetical and are just trying to see how ethical you would handle the situation.

I would get caught up on the heavy hitters Cosmetic Dentistry, Types of Fillings, etc. Other than that, just answer the scenarios honestly and try to turn it into a conversation and you will be fine!

Again, Good Luck!
