Has anyone interviewd at Michigan yet? How is the Mini Monitored Interview? I am kind of worried about that. Also, do we have to write an essay??? I would great appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!!

I found the Michigan interview rather stressless actually. We were stressed that the environment was so relaxed. There was a short writing activity, but I'm sure it's mostly so they know you can write full paragraphs. As for the MMI, they were kind of fun and you get to meet more faculty and students. The only down part I can recall was the three hour presentations in the morning. We were running late, so there weren't really any breaks in between. Towards the end, all of us were squirming in our seats.

I agree with this guy. The interview was so relaxed I can;t believe it was like an interview. MMI is both samrter and easier, and it is made such that you can have converstion with the person so they know you can talk. But The Presentations in the mornings are so Boring and you get tired of it becasue all they talk about it research, research , research, research and research...... and I don;t know why. You will be fine in Interview, good luck.

I found the 'research' theme at UofM to be overdone too. As an undergrad, I could care less about research. But UofM is a key player in medical discoveries. After a few months, you'll realize the value of UofM's research. A ton of dental 'discoveries' have UofM researchers behind them, and your 'profs' teaching you about bio things happen to be researching that stuff. Cool concept eh?

During your interview, act cool, think through your answers and be able to justify them. Remember, you're not supposed to know dental stuff yet entirely. Also, talk to students...figure out what you want in a school. See if they are going to the bars later that night and join them! You'd be surprised how fun it is to be a dental student at UofM...work hard and play hard is a key theme.
