Hey everyone,

I got invited earlier this week to an interview/visit day at Michigan for the Health Management and Policy department.

The e-mail made it sound as if this wasn't an invitation that just everyone who applied was getting.

I'm trying to figure out if I have the means to get to Ann Arbor for one of the dates. I really want to, just making sure it will work out.

I just wanted to know if anyone knows more about this. Is this a really good sign or merely a good sign? Any Michigan people out there. I mean this program is like tops in the country so I'm pretty excited either way.

Also, would anyone think that there would be an repercussions for not going and perhaps doing an interview over the phone (which they mention as an option in the e-mail) if I can't get things to work out for a physical visit to happen.

Any input is much appreciated.

Thanks.

I've also been invited to a Visit Day, initially given the option of attending on Mon/Thurs around March (ended up selecting March 15th fyi). From what I've read in the email and on the UM website, its an important part of the application process since there is an interview scheduled on Visit Day. Also, not all applicants are offered attendence. Talking with a current MHSA graduate student at UM, I've been told there would be no disadvantage to doing a phone interview. Especially since they recruit internationally and it would be difficult to expect all students to travel there. That being said, I still think its a good opportunity to see the campus and meet students/faculty.

Just FYI I applied to that program and didn't get an interview. The emailed me saying they were no longer considering me as an applicant. So to answer your question, not all applicants are invited! Good Luck!!!

I'm visiting/interviewing on March 11th and while I'm excited and nervous to eventually hear the results from this interview. I can't help but feel that I'm going to be approaching April without knowing my admission status.

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to make an admission decision after the HMP interview?

btw, congrats on the interview to deem and guriel!
