Just wanted to see how everyone was doing with their Michigan med school apps. In particular, have many people received a secondary from MSUCHM??? I paid my money back in July and I haven't heard from them yet, while my friend just paid last week and received a secondary in the mail.....what's up with that?

Anyways, how about Wayne and U of Michigan? Has anyone gotten further than sending their Secondary apps in. Any interviews, rejections, etc.....so far?

Thanks

Hey dude,

i'm definitely psyched, but i just moved back to chicago and now i have to go back home to michigan in a week...

wayne has not sent a secondary yet... weird.

Please keep me posted on your experience with MSUCHM. I visited there this summer and absolutely loved it. It is definitely right up there on my list of where I want to go.

hey....congrats on your interview at MSU. I'm sure your secondary to wayne is on its way. I am the opposite of you.....I have received the 2ndary from wayne but not state yet......weird

The interview day at state is really pretty chill... 4 hours of them selling themselves, an hour of a tasty lunch, then one hour of me selling myself...

As everyone knows, the primary care emphasis is huuuuge, and you don't even get elective clerkships until after the match (so it is even harder to match outside of primary care)... be sure of it, if you want to go there.

The people there are sickeningly nice... no, but seriously, they treated us so well, and the students told us it wasn't a front, that the administration bends over backwards for them.

They will let us know sometime this week, maybe Tuesday night... i'm hoping for the best...

Just wondering if anyone knows how UMich is about accepting out-of-state applicants? This might sound stupid, but I was just curious on the stats. Thanks in advance.

Just got into MSUCHM!!!
Pretty excited... but, strangely enough, I never did get a Wayne 2ndary... that's okay, no hard feelings...

Well, hope everyone has as good luck as I did...

From your pals at studentdoctor.com, congratulations, Simul. Now, wasn't all that hard work worth it? 🙂

It's a Wonderful Life.

Great Job Simul!!! I am so incredibly jealous. I want to go there so bad. I noticed how nice everyone was there as well when I went on a visit. I'm a non-resident, so it will probably be slightly tougher for me to get in, but I'm going to work my butt off for the MCAT. Did you have to take an advanced composition class? I read in their web site that you have to so I registered for Advanced Scientific Writing for next semester. Did you get to meet Jay Bryde? She is incredible!

Once again, congratulations.

I got accepted to MSUCHM this past Monday as well. Yahoo! I received Wayne State's secondaries about 6 weeks ago but recently withdrew because MSU is my first choice.

Best wishes to all.

Just for those wondering about Wayne, I just received an invite for an interview today. It is my first response from a medical school and I applied to ten of them. I am so pumped!

Good luck to everyone else!!

lilycat - I'm an out-of-stater M1 at UMich. This year, I think roughly half the class is in-state and half is out-of-state. That being said, there are obviously many more out-of-state applicants than in-state applicants, so the competition is stiffer if you're not from Michigan.

Last years stats are on the US News page - http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad00/dir-med/admis_04051.htm

In-state - 84 accepted (66 enrolled) out of 872 applicants = 9.6%
Out-of-state - 228 accepted (75 enrolled) out of 4177 applicants = 5.5%
