Hey everybody,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I was given an interview to MSU and the program seems great. However, looking at the prior classes of residents, there is only 1 MD in the 4 classes of residents. Are MD applicants considered in the same regard as DO applicants at this program?

Thanks for anybody with answers

When I rotated there as a student they seemed to take about an equal of both. I believe they expected MDs to learn some OMT skills at times.

If I recall correctly from the information the program coordinator gave me back when I applied to residency programs, I believe they typically took at most one MD per year, and that that they do prefer DO to MDs. That’s at odds with the above posters experience, but I don’t know when they rotated at MSU.

I would recommend contacting the program directly to see what their current preferences, if any, are.
