Can anyone answer these?

1. which of the following is an intracellular parasite?
a) Aspergillus flavus
b) Norcardia asteroides
c) coccidioides immitis
d) Histoplasma capsulatum
e) cryptococcus neoformans

2. Infection with Histoplasma capsulatum in normal, healthy individuals is usually a:
a) dermatomycosis
b) oportunisitic infection
c) radidly spreading disease
d) self-limiting benign disease
e) disease localised in the blood

3. which of the following is an endogenous fungus that is capable of producing an opportunistic infection?
a) Candida
b) Rhizopus
c) Aspergillus
e) Cryptococcus

4. One identifying morphologic characteristic of candida albicans is the presence of which of the following?
a) Chlamydospores
b) Blastospores

D - Histoplasma yeast cells can be found in macrophages

3. which of the following is an endogenous fungus that is capable of producing an opportunistic infection?
a) Candida
b) Rhizopus
c) Aspergillus
e) Cryptococcus

B - Candida is almost always present in the mouth but is not able to grow because of the dominant bacterial flora.

4. One identifying morphologic characteristic of candida albicans is the presence of which of the following?
a) Chlamydospores
b) Blastospores
c) Microconidia
d) Macroconida
e) Endospores

B - Candida can form chlamydospores - thick walled and resistant.

I'm using a combination of Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple and First Aid for the USMLE.

can you answer these q?

1- immunolgic injury that involves the activation of complement as an important event in producing damage to tissue is found in which one?

immune comlex hypersensivity
antibody dependent cell mediated cytotoxity( ans not sure)

can you explain difference plz???they both have complement .

can you explain your answer plz?

2- an important early event in the chemotactic process is cellular adherence to vascular endothlium . the upregulation of endothelial adhesion molecule is in part a response to

cytokin stimulation (ans not sure)
lyzozyme production
mast cell degradation

3- each of the following is necessary for viral antigen recognition by CD4 Thelper EXCEPT one ?

viral replication in host cell ( ans not sure)
clevage of viral protein in to small pepties
internalization of the virus by an antigen presenting cell

4- prevotella intermedia is first detected in the oral cavity

at birth
by adolescence
immediately before periodontal disese appears ( ans not sure)

5- vasodilatation and increased vasopermeability lasting for several days in an area of inflamation indicate which one?

thrombosis
hegman factor activation
formation of granulation tissue( ans not sure)

immune comlex hypersensivity
antibody dependent cell mediated cytotoxity - Answer

Yes both have complement but:
1. Type II: cytotoxic - Affects many organs and tissues and is mediated by antibodies of IgG and IgM which bind to cell surface antigens and activate complement to produce MAC mediated cell destruction.
2. Type III: immune - complex - Also affects organs in the body, is mediated by soluble immune complexes - they are mostly of IgG class (but IgM may also be involved). Immune complexes are deposited in tissues & produce MAC mediated cell destruction.

(Note that complement can be activated by IgG or IgM --- but IgM is more efficient than IgG --- reason is because IgM fixes complement better as it has 10 Fc sites).... I hope that helps you
