Hello

I am a pre-dental student who recently discovered this site. I am a biochemistry major and have the option of taking two different microbiology classes. One is for majors (300 level) and one is for health sciences + nonmajors course( 200 level).

Does it matter which one I take? Do dental schools with the microbio requirement specifically want to see a majors course?

Thank you!

Take the one with a lab.

take the one for the majors, incase something happens and the nonmajor one is not accepted - just to avoid any complications.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and offer my opinion based on experience, although it is generally safer to play it conservative. Find out if these courses are deemed exclusions to each other, since they may be deemed equivalent in this case. As an example, at my undergrad school there were two types of physiology courses, majors (third year level) and non-majors (second year level) - the majors physiology always had course restrictions for the physiology students, and capped the class at around 40-50 people, so it was very difficult to enroll in this class and consequently, almost everyone enrolled in the non-majors one and both were deemed equivalent to meet the prerequisite requirements. Also check with the school in question.
