Microbio+ Cell bio, overkill?

Hey folks, I'm in a little bit of a dilemma here.

So I might not be able to get into my anatomy & physiology course next semester. I'm already gonna take organic chem 1 and cell biology that semester. Would taking microbio with cell bio be overkill?

I can take anatomy and physiology at a community college, but that would mean I would have to drive back and forth from the city to the suburbs whenever I have my class...It may or may not be worth it. How much microbio is needed for the mcat anyway?

I had a similar semester with ochem, micro, genetics, and calc. It is definitely doable if you manage your time properly. I was in pedal to the metal mode though and wanted to get things done asap. I found that there was some overlap with cell bio and micro, which made things easier.

it really depends on your institution and how hard the classes are...

Entirely dependent on your school and far more importantly your professors. One of my easiest semesters in college was taking Organic Chemistry 2 Physics 2 and an Upper level Neuroscience Class because of the professors. Maybe my hardest semester I had was when I took one upper level neuroscience class and statistics along with fluff gen eds. Bottom line the names of the classes mean little. Entirely dependent on the difficulty of the professor. Ask around from people who've taken the class; that's a far better source than anybody on here who hasn't had those professors.

Microbio is a great class to take if you are interested in it. Taking it just for the sole purpose of the MCAT probably isn't a wise decision.
