Microbiology at a CC

I am planning to go to UF for their dental program.

Does anyone kno if its alright to take microbiology at a CC??

i dont know much about UF. i just know it is a required class...

i dont think they will care too much if you only took a few required classes at a CC. as long as you have a good amount of science classes at a university, you should be fine?

however, i think there are some dental schools that wants you to take ALL of the required classes at a university?

best thing to do is always send them an e-mail or call...

they(UF) requires MCB3020 not MCB2000 and i don;t think sfcc offers MCB3020
...(if you try to take it from sfcc)

i go to PBCC and the course number is MCB2010

2010 is for nurses and the like.

Hey there,

I too am shooting for UF -- I'm an undergrad now (junior standing) and I'll most likely be taking MCB3020 this summer along w/ Genetics. I'm a Zoology major and am also a CC transfer (from Polk Community College).

I talked to a friend of mine yesterday who said she took Micro at SFCC. I am not quite sure the course number, though.

And it is my opinion that taking one or two of your science courses at a CC will not negatively effect your standing enough to determine your acceptance. HOWEVER, I do believe taking your O-Chem's is a bad idea. O-Chem performance always seems to be a hot topic, and taking them at a CC may look like a cop-out, especially considering your O-Chem classes are not required for your AA.

I go to UF. UF offers both MCB 3020 and MCB2000. You NEED MCB3020. From the course catalog pertaining to MCB2000"...Suitable as a general education science course. Not acceptable for admission to advanced microbiology courses. This course will not be acceptable for the preprofessional curricula relating to the medical/veterinary sciences"
