For microbiology, how far should I go in-depth with studying the causes of diseases in terms of the names of bacteria, fungi, etc? Should we go as far to name specific species of bacteria such as Staphyloccus aureus causes this...or would it be safe to just know the general class?

Yes it is specific...know the major ones...
If you've taken micro you'll know the obvious ones
E. Coli, S. Aureus, K. Pneumo., C. Anthrax, etc etc.
(but not obscure ones like E. Faecalis, etc)

I figured those would be the ones to know. I have taken micro so I already have an idea about those. Thank you guys for the input!

can we start making a list of diseases based on what we have seen from the actual PCAT, Pearson practice tests and Dr. Collins?

just name of the disease without any reference would be legally bullet-proof 🙂
