And so does lugging my textbook all over the US 😡
Haha, I haven't taken a single piece of schoolwork with me yet. 😀
sosososososo fun~~~

Have you taken Environmental Microbiology? You would definitely be singing a different tune....hands down the most boring class I have EVER taken.
i agree micro sucks and as for biochem i have it next semester. so i'll get back to ya on that one.
Both suck, especially when the teachers have no personality.
Ethnobotany is the best course ever. It is how indigenous people use indigenous plants.
(indigenous?)
My teacher played drums made of plants and showed us how to get high naturally. Best Course Ever, write that down!

My teacher gets an A for effort, but he is a grad student that has never taught before, and he is so inefficient it is killing me. We are chapters behind because he does things like talk individually to students at the beginning of class while the other 150 of us sit and wait. Or hand back tests one by one, which took a whole class period. And he basically just reads off his power points. 😴
I feel bad for him though, it would be super hard to have your first teaching experience be a class of 150ppl. I just wish I wasn't a part of his learning curve 😛
And it was kinda interesting when they were talking about how to kill all the little buggers, but taxonomy is so....is so...😴 😴 😴

A courses difficulty does not necessarily designate how much I will enjoy it, although that is usually a large determining factor. I tend to dislike courses if I get bad marks in it.. 🙂
I find the material in biochemistry much more challenging than what is fed to me in microbiology, but I still enjoy it more.
Besides, who doesn't love learning about Hemoglobin, it definetly has a place in my heart (pun intended).. 😀

If your biochem is easier than your microbio then there is a problem somewhere...they are like on two different playing fields.
Of course this statement is totally subjective. Microbiology, getting down to the nitty gritty, is basically memorizing biochemistry mechanisms of 1000's of different microorganisms...it depends on who's teaching and how you think.
I was very fortunate to take biochemistry with Sir Hans Kornberg, a microbiologist. This man what knighted by Queen Elizabeth, taught by Krebs, and knows everyone who contributed anything to biochemistry. What I took away from the class was, as he told me, this stuff is just beyond us and above us. Microbiology and biochemistry are such interesting fields! You should never let their difficulty discourage you. Take it slow, work hard, and master the material and you will be sure to excel. Take a breather sometimes and think about all the work and effort that went into discovering everything you are learning about, it will make you much more appreciative of the field and perhaps spark more interest.
Good luck!

Thanks for the motivational talks guys, but the class is actually pretty easy...that's not why I dislike it. When I dig down into my soul and ask myself if I care that a bacterium is round or oval or covered with pili or flagellated...the answer is always 😴
🙂
Biochem was fun. I had a crazy teacher that loved the subject and loved to teach. It was cool to find out what vitamins really did. Plus I guess my interests are kind of ego-centric. I like learning about humans, but don't care too much about the rest of the bio world. Forgive me 😍
