Hi

First, i would like to thank all of you for taking your time to answer many of our concerns, it might not be too much... but personally i really appreciate it!
I have two questions
1- I am currently enrolled and about to take my first Microbiology class, i have been very desicive about my choice of making it to dental school and therefore i already have some schools in mind, these X schools require a microbiology class like most of them i am sure... Now the issue is the following... My school offers two types of microbiology... "General Microbiology" and "Intro Microbiology" 😱 will Intro work for the credit as the 3 hours requested by dental school for the "Microbiology" class? what is the difference?

2- This is a question that i am sure would sound dumb for many of you guys. Like i said before, being a dentist is my main priority... and i think a lot about the future... I still have a long road ahead and sometimes worries come to my head... My question is: Do you guys think the future of dentistry will change? Will a 3.8 GPA be required to be a dentist in a not far Future? Are things going to remain as they are? i am sorry if these questions are kind of slow but it will really help me sleep if i get some opinions about the future of Dentistry! Thank you everyone for reading!
Am planning to apply in 2012

My school offered both as well. One was a nursing class the other was an upper level class for bio majors. Your best bet is to call or email the addmssions office at the schools you are interested. Micro is not that difficult and it would be better to take the majors, harder course, but OSU said either was fine when I applied.

Every cycle DAT scores get higher and GPA expectation are doing the same as well. There are still people with below 3.5 that get n don't get me wrong.... But every cycle gets more competitive. You just need to focus on making yourself the best applicant as you possibly can be. If gpa if the weak point in your app then plan on having a lot of extra curricular activities, volunteer work and a higher than average DAT.

I have looked at the ADA numbers and the average is going up about .0XX per year over the past few years. I wouldnt get to alarmed about for two reasons. (this is just IMO) GPA inflation, and the fact that the goal of DS admissions isn't to get those with the highest GPA but those who will make the best dentists. GPA is important but I doubt we'll see the average being 3.8. Also - getting a 3.8 isn't an easy so I doubt it would become common amoung those that apply - even if there were a huge increase in the number of applicants.
