Microscopes: RENT or BUY??

I just rented it. The fee was a one time thing: $125. I wouldn't buy one because it is basically useless after histology and pathology. I have absolutely no room in my house to put a microscope. I would only CONSIDER buying one if I was going to do research that required extensive microscope use. Even then, I would probably still use my school's microscopes.

Dont feel too bad the Zeiss in my lab is $53,000 and the confocal I use is 3/4 of a million. Only kidding, Id rent it. If you go into research, you will have one provided with many more bells and whistles than a CX31. Also if you go into pathology or something that uses a scope, youll also have one provided, or have more $ to buy one with then. Good luck.
