DO we need to know the section microscopes?

I don't really think you need to know anything about microscopes. There's a small section in KAPLAN that gives you some info about which microscopes allow you to examine living specimens and which microscopes won't allow you to do this due to preparations that the specimen must undergo. Also, I think there's a formula that tells you how to calculate the total magnification of the microscope.
