just wondering, I have been living in the U.S for over 15 years and I am a dental hygienist. I already have my bachlors in biology and I am middle eastern (afghanistan) looking to apply to Howard university? what are my chances of getting in? is it worth a try?

Middle-eastern is considered caucasian. I didn't think Afgans were considered middle-eastern though.

Depends on your motive for applying there. They try to create opportunities for minorities and the disadvantaged, not for those people who couldn't do well on the DAT or make the grades.

I'm also a dental hygienist who got accepted in U maryland this year.
i'm not sure about howard university because i didn't get an interview there. the percentage of whites getting in is very low in howard.
i would say go for it.

edit. nvm lol

I just got accepted to Howard, and after interviewing there, I can definitely say that there are plenty of every race and background, but it is known as a historically African American school - and about 50% of the class is. I don't think being one race or another would be a huge drawback if you have decent grades & scores, and Howard is really the school you want to go to.

From the interview, I could tell that they were trying to check if people legitimately wanted to go there, and weren't just thinking "Oh, Howard, that's got to be an easy school to get into."
