I just talked to some faculty here at MWU about the plans for our clinic that is being built right now.
So D3's will work 2 to a chair in 20 chair sections. D4's will have their own chairs. We will also have a section for hygiene. In the situation that you encounter a situation that's over your head, you will take your patient to a specialist. Each specialty had thier own section. You will take your patient over to that section and either assist a specialist or be guided by the specialist through the proceedure. There will also be a section for emergency patients to be seen as well.
In total there will be a little over 240 chairs, and patients will be passed down from class to class. As far as practice management, we begin using axiom educational practice mgmt software starting in D2. By the time you graduate you will have 7 quarters of practice mgmt classes. Also, in D4 you will be responsible for recall reports, overhead reports, cost effective materials use, and other reports that you will need to deal with as the owner of a private practice.
Just a heads up for what's goin' down out here in AZ!
