1. I applied to both schools and i was wondering whether it is bad if I put the same answers for both schools in the secondary applications?

2. Do the schools provide comunity service programs? If they do, where can I get more information on them?

3. Is the student body diverse?

4. Is it more difficult to go on to specialty programs after graduating Midwestern since it's general dentistry focused?

Thanks!!!!!!

Also, do they have any research programs for dental students?

1. Depends on which question you are referring to... but if the "Why our school" then yes, very bad. Those essays should be tailored to each school with specifics only found in specific school. Now, since they are technically different schools and have a different review committee, they will probably never know that you used the same essay for both schools. However, if it is vague and general without any specifics pinpointing that school, then they will know you recycled. Not that great, but if it's well written... who knows
2. Do not know about research, since they don't do a very good job with putting information on their website. I would recommend calling to speak with one of the counselors to find out for sure.
3. MWU-AZ, about 20% Asian, 20% Unreported, 40% White, and the remainder Other or Hispanic, etc.
No information for MWU-IL because it's too new.
4. From my understanding, no. As long as you do well in school and can get good recommendations. It may limit the opportunities presented to you on a golden platter, but in no way limiting your opportunity in general, you just have to go out and reach for it.

For some reasons i'm having the most difficult time finding special features about these midwestern schools! I have even looked into the course catalog to find somethiing specific but I failed. Is calling the admission office the only way to find more about these two schools?

What I did is look through the school websites and looked at the school's mission statement and any current events or innovations that are going on with the schools and added that into "why i wanted to go there"

Calling might help (I know in another thread someone called and the counselor told them what that school emphasized)

I used the course catalog / curriculum.

Despite being both being MWU schools, they actually have VERY different curriculums, styles of teaching, and emphasis on different things.

Their mission statement are pretty much the same on the front page, but if you actually look at each course, you can tell that there are many courses that set the apart, and their way of teaching.

Too late now though, since you already submitted right?

ummm not true. i used the exact same responses for both schools, i just changed where i said illinois and arizona. i already interviewed at MWU-AZ and i have an interview at MWU-IL in 3 weeks.

That's just like saying someone with a QR of 15 getting into DS, despite the fact that most schools have a 16 on all section minimum...
You have other things that can make up for it. Would getting a 18 on QR help you? Most certainly. Did getting a 15 hurt you? Most certainly. Did using the same essay hurt you? Most certainly.
No one said if you recycle essay you won't get it, but if it's not tailored to a specific school, they'll know and unless you have something else they want/that can make up for it, you're ad a disadvantage.

So yes, true.

😱oh wow... that's awesome. When did you submit all your apps???

I agree. I come from MWU-AZ experience.
1. I'm a real stickler about knowing WHY you want to attend a school. I think that's where the school really makes a bond with you as a person... but that's just me. If you get Dr. Polk as an interviewer at AZ, you'll know almost within the 1st 5 mins whether he likes you or not. He knows exactly what he's looking for if you do get an interview, but I think being able to tie in your experiences with the school's mission/vision is important.
2. There are research opportunities, especially through FWS.
3. Seems to be diverse. A lot of ppl from the midwest in my class
4. From what I've heard, you get more experience here doing "specialty-type" things without ever specializing. And I think its going to be a great school that will help you be competitive when it comes to specializing.

I had Dr. Polk. Very nice gentleman! Interview was really relaxed. I'm very impressed with the school. Everyone is so nice and helpful there. Technology is top notch. I would definitely attend this school.
