Midwestern IL MA Program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats Kalman. How long did it take for them to make a decision after your app was complete? Did they also interview you first? My app was complete on feb. 21 and I'm hoping that I'll hear from them soon.

Congrats Kalman! Just wondering, is this the first class for this program?

Hey all,

I was accepted into the masters program as well. I received my acceptance Feb 25 as well and was complete sometime in January.

Hey all- I got in as well. Anybody know if we will get a list of classmates or anything? Is there a facebook group yet?

Where's Western? 😕

I don't know anything about finding out about classmates, i hope we do! That's why I started this forum so I can find at least SOME people 🙂 Idk if there's a facebook group yet, probably not. I think there's only gonna be about 50 people and I've heard they already accepted to capacity (but who knows how many will accept) Feel free to start a group 😀

I think it is about 50 as well. If I don't see a group in the next few weeks I can start one (Or maybe I'll just let you handle that 🙂). I didn't think it would be at capacity yet, that was fast!

Oh that explains why I'm unfamiliar haha I'm from Michigan and didn't look into schools that west. Good luck, I hope you get what you want! 🙂

And yeah, that's what I heard, but I don't know how accurate it is. And even if it is true, you know the 50 people they accept are not all going to accept the offer so I'm still rooting for you, amali! 👍

Good luck to you as well kalman.

Jay Walk,

I was looking into Brook Hill Apartments. A friend reccommended those ones to me. What about you? What is everyone's plans? living on campus or off campus?

I'd like to live off campus. There look like there are a lot of really nice places that wouldn't be too expensive with a roommate.

I am going for on campus housing. I'd prefer off campus, but if I'm only going to potentially be here for 9 months it's just easier if I don't have to worry about everything an apartment entails....especially furnishing it! Kinda stinks 🙁 but if you live on campus the housing lady told me you'll get a single if you want one....so that's all that matters to me! 👍

I'd like to look into rooming with someone potentially so we can get a bigger place and itll be cheaper. I am waiting on NYCOM, WVSOM and PikevilleSOM but I am going to do the Masters at Midwestern. I heard as long as our mcat is their average and our GPAs stay above a 3.2 we are guaranteed an interview..

From what I've heard, you are guaranteed an interview only AFTER you have completed the program. Meaning if you are applying while you are in the program, they can reject you immediately since they are not obligated to interview you.

The predental students I have talked to said that most of them that applied to Midwestern-AZ while they were in the program got outright rejected pretty quickly. It may different for the med school, and it may also be different with Midwestern-IL.

hey, would any of you guys who got accepted and were pre-med be willing to share stats. i have been complete for about a month now and no word. you can pm me if you want.
thanks

Here are my stats...

3.7 sGPA 3.5 cGPA mcat- 22 Q (going to be retaking it hopefully in August)
600 hours of volunteering
100 hours of shadowing D.O.'s
1000s of hours of patient contact from working in the ER

Did anyone apply to CCOM this year? I was just wondering if it's possible to have my app forwarded from there to the MA program without having to pay the MA fee? Has anyone done that?

and is it considered late to apply now? I know someone said earlier that it's accepted to capacity, if that's true then that was seriously fast =/

I applied to CCOM and didn't get accepted. Then they asked me to apply for this program and they transferred my ap to the MA admissions people for no fee.

I applied to CCOM this year and had my application forwarded for free. They sent me an email about it so if you were denied already they should do that for you - if they haven't sent you an email I would contact the admissions office. For the Arizona campus they accept people through August so I'm sure there will be some significant turnover for acceptances here too when people get into other programs that are higher on their preference list. Therefore, I definitely don't think it's too late, especially when it literally took no time at all to apply the way you're talking about (I think you only had to answer one question that asked why you were applying to the program and it was a short response). Hope that helps - apply! 😀

Thanks guys! I'll email them to see if I can have the app forwarded. I had my "interview" for Az and am waiting on a response. MWU-IL is a little cheaper too so it's def a plus! Did you guys also interview or post-secondary rejection?

There's 2 different programs - the one she's talking about is the 2 year pathway and the one that we are discussing on here is the 9 month program 🙂 This is the first year I believe they are doing the 9 month program, but they've had the 2 year pathway there for a bit.

Opps, my bad. God, which one did I apply to again, lol.

Any updates?

I was complete on 2/28 and have not heard anything since the email.

Spoke too soon. I was put on the alternative list. Is there hope for me or is that a nice rejection? 🙁

I would hope that means if someone doesn't take their spot then it becomes available to you..

Hey everyone! I've been accepted as well. See you in August!

I just got accepted to this program and will be attending in the fall. Anyone have any idea on housing arrangements yet?

Hi guys! I was also placed on the alternate list. I found out through regular mail. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey guys...I am accepted to the MBS program, I know this is the MABS thread but I don't see one for the MBS nor do I feel like starting one and being alone so I will just join in with y'all 😉...I would imagine we will have some of the same classes etc. I think I am going to be living on campus...just seems easier to me. Anyway, hello all..be seeing some of you in a few months...and best of luck to people on the alternate list. I am on 2 alternate lists for medical school so I know how it feels wishing people would pick other schools or just decide to move to Uganda to pursue another life so I can have their spot :xf:

Here's a new, very bare facebook page to get us started!! Send me suggestions on anything you would like to see added...I will keep working on it through the weekend...alternates are more than welcome to join and stay in touch too!!

Hold on a minute....last link was wrong...be back in 5 to add the right one 🙂

Hey guys I'm currently in the MBS program for 2012. It's good that you guys are applying so early and getting in. If you guys have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Are you currently applying to medical school? How are classmates fairing with this application cycle (DO and MD)? Thanks!
