Started by i4everpaki
Midwester (Az) isn't this the 2nd year for it?
And the IL campus, this is the first year class so...
Honestly, there might not be any info on them cause there just isn't enough people

This will be Midwestern-AZ's 4th class. They interview a lot of people, and they look for a specific mold. The interview questions are straight forward. If you are an attractive girl and have a great personality, then you will have a good chance. If you are a guy, then they tend to look for older and more mature applicants (second career, married etc.). Midwestern is a conservative school, and many dental students are Mormon.

I don't think Midwestern is just Mormon, I think TONS of schools have lots of Mormons...not just Midwestern.

ADEA book of course.... duhhh
I am in the Midwestern Dental program and I can say there is a looooooooooooooooooottttttttt of Mormons in the program. I would guess somewhere around 50% (about 55/110), which seems high to me because I know maybe 2 outside school. There is probably some preferential treatment
. But with that said, I like all the Mormans, they are all good people
Oh no maybe they are trying to convert me.

Let me say that first off these are just stereotypes. As a student not all the female students here are Attractive. I have no idea where that came from maybe a handful in the class are.
As far as Mormon I think that it is getting over exagerated it is not as many as people are saying. Either that or I just don't know very many of them.

Are you talking about just the dental class or the entire campus? I think this thread only pertains to the dental students. If BYU makes it to the NCAA tournament this year...you will see half of the campus cheering for them.

I'm a D1 at Midwestern. There are 23 LDS (Mormon) students/110. I think the proportion is higher in the previous 2 classes. I also think the proportion is fairly high among other programs as I do see alot of BYU shirts/hats on campus.
There is a wide range of ages, philosophies, and backgrounds in my class. I think our average age is a little higher than usual, but there are plenty of younger people too.
For the interview, come prepared to answer the usual interview questions as well as discussing what is happening in the field of dentistry. I got a question about specific legislation in my state. Read up on the ADA news and look for anything that stands out. You may have current students in your interview- don't leave them out but remember to pay most of your attention to the doctor.
Also, DON'T LIE OR EXAGGERATE! Some of the interviewers will try to catch you in a lie. Some of them also will seem angry or intimidating (they really aren't), so don't take it personally and just relax and be yourself.
They don't seem to be picking people based on test scores and grades, but are more looking for personalities that fit the school. Try to let your personality, philosophies etc come through. Be honest about what is important to you.
