I have a question, if someone could please help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I received an invite for an interview at AZCOM for the end of Sept, however, I can't attend it, so I rescheduled for October, does this significantly hurt my chances of getting accepted?

Does it hurt your chances? Probably not. Does it "significantly" hurt your chances? Even more likely not.

The number of interviews/accepts that will occur during the 'end of September' and sometime in October, which at most, would be one month, will be less than the number of seats that AZCOM has.

In short, there is no way that they will fill all the seats by October.

Perhaps if you postponed a November interview for one in December, then I'd worry a bit more.

I''ll be interviewing at AZCOM. I wanted to know what your experience was like interviewing there. I think its a panel of interviewers with a panel of applicants. Anyhow thought/advice?

i put in to do tours near the end of sept...i may see some of you🙂
the interview is (at least was) panel, usually three-- professor, doctor, student. it is semi-closed which means they only have your experiences/volunteer, work, letters....but no grades/mcat.
Each interview is so different. as for me, it was very relaxed, they acutally read questions from my application (like what sports i play and books i've read) My only advice is read over you application...statements, rec's stuff like that. Not only does it prepare you, but you start to feel extra good about yourself🙂
there should be some interview web sites out there where you could look at specific examples of questions. GOOD LUCK!!!
btw, it is still early in the app cycle so be proud if you already have interviews!!!!

My experience was very similar to jhug's. I was interviewed by a panel including a physician, prof, and a MSIV. The questions were all very straightforward. They were interested in my hobbies, leadership roles, and my career. I was an Air Force medic at the time. My best advice is just to be yourself, know your application, and relax. There is nothing to worry about here. If you've made it to the interview, they really are interested in getting to know you better.

I look forward to meeting you all in the upcoming interviews. Make sure that you talk to as many students as you can.

My interview panel last year consisted of two faculty and a MSIV.

The questions that this group asked all of us were ethical questions. Since they were blinded to our MCATs and grades, my guess is that they wanted to see something of our character.

Very thought-provoking questions.

Just wondering is Midwestern one big school with 2 locations. I just got my Midwestern secondary but I am applying for the Chicago location. Does that mean you could go 2 years in Chicago and then finish in Arizona?

no, they're just sister schools...but i'm sure you might be able to transfer

AZCOM and CCOM are sister schools. Whichever school you get accepted to is where you will do your four years. I don't know how they are about transfering from one school to the other.

Midwestern allows transfers from one campus to the other. It may take some work but its been done.

The interview is very laid back. A panel of three people (usually a student, a doctor, a and Ph.D) and one applicant. Make sure that you are well-read on current events.

You want to interview as early as possible, but October isn't going to hurt you. Every year we try and fill earlier.

Hi everyone -

I am also fortunate to have an interview at AZCOM, but I've never been to Glendale. Can anyone tell me which is the best place to stay (overall) while in Arizona? I know there is a list of hotels/motels - but of that list, is there a preffered one? Any thoughts would be really helpful.

I don't think there is a preferred one. It isn't like at Touro, where you are better off staying in the one hotel they recommend (b/c Dr. Haight meets everyone there the morning of interviews). I think they are all fairly close to the school. I stayed at the Holiday Inn (soon to become a Ramada I believe) and it was pretty nice. It was across the street from a mall--so I had something to do when not at the interview.

are you going to rent a car? If you do, i'd just take the cheapest one available. We stayed at a sleep inn on bell and the 17 (because it was cheaper) that was really nice and about 5 min from school. ONe thing you'll notice is that there are a ton of hotels and shopping centers (mall's & strip mall's) around here. Does the school still get you a cheaper rate?

I believe there are cheaper rates for AZCOM Interviewees, I don't have the mail at my home so I can't be positive about it. I think there are reduced prices for hotel/motel and shuttle services.
