For all of you that received midwestern interviews, I'm assuming you already submitted your secondary?

Yes I completed my secondary just a few days ago and they already sent me an interview invite. If you're working on one, I suggest you submit it quick because they seem to be working very fast at MWU so you could get a nice interview date!

p.s. I love throwing as well!!

were your applications complete? I'm still waiting on my LOEs and AADSAS sent those out on the 24th. Did any of you get the invites without LOEs?

how fast did you complete your secondary. I have my almost done and Ive had it for 3 days now. Did you get the invite literally 2 days after you completed the 2nd application?

Midwestern seems like an awesome school!

I dont' think they look at your application until it is complete (LOEs, DAT, Supplemental app, AADSAS app). Also, did you get the email to work on the supplemental app? If so, they have the tab where you can check the status of when your LOEs were recieved.

I'm also waiting on my LOEs and AADSAS mailed them out today, so I'll give them another week or so.

Midwestern is an awesome school.

I'm a current 2nd year dental student, and loving it here.

I heard that the interview process is a little different this year than the previous 2 years.

Goodluck everyone!!

Hey, Ive got a quick question.. What is good /bad things about MWU?
Can you tell me a little bit ?🙂

Thanks in advanced.

ugh.. I'm still waiting and my LOEs were mailed out on 7/24! I'm checking MWU and ASDOHs everyday to see if they've received it and still nothing. Good luck with yours I hope they get our letters soon. 🙁

what do u mean they've changed the interview style?

The interview is going to make or break you at MWU so be prepared and pretend to be liked.

This school interviews WAY too many people so chances are low

Have you emailed them about your status? I would ask to check your file. Maybe they received it but did not update it on their website?

Or they could be just waiting to receive a bunch and update them weekly?

To whoever received an interview at MWU: Approximately how long did it take for MWU to update your status that your app was complete (DAT scores and LOE's, etc. were all in) to the date you received your interview?

From what i know from MWU people, they all seem pretty nice and laid back, and there wont be that many people interviewing in one day... they are many other schools that invite tons of more people to their interviews,

I interviewed there for this past cycle (2009 cycle). It's a very nice school (expected since it's brand new) with very friendly faculty.

However during the interview they informed us that they do indeed send out lots of interview invites. I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head but I recall it being a 25% chance of getting in (My interview was pre Dec 1st).

So make sure to blow them away when they interview you!

Good luck!

From what I heard this year, a current dental student will also be interviewing you. The student will not have access to the files, and will be allowed to ask questions from a list of questions provided. The purpose of this is suppose to help the candidate feel more comfortable.

Also newly added is a manual dexterity test portion (ASDOH has the peg board thing). The manual dexterity test will be of chalk carving during the interview.

MWU sends out a lot of interviews to have a large applicant pool. I think they are doing this because it is a brand new school, so there are applicants that decline the offer if they get into their state school, or their 1st choice.

whats the "peg board" manual dexterity test going to be like?

Interview Sept 8th!

Could you give us a break down of what the day is like?

When I interviewed 2 years ago there was a panel of 3 interviewers, asking me questions about my application. 'Twas my first interview, lots of nervous laughs and I wasn't comfortable at all. I was actually terrified and felt kind of on-the-spot. And I'm sure they could tell...
Then they asked me what 5 countries bordered France.
😱
(by the way, Luxembourg is in fact a country, and it borders France. This I did not know)

Then we had food and toured the campus but the the Dental building hadn't been built yet, I'm assuming it has been built by now but I don't attend there. And also the the golf cart the tour guide was driving broke down half-way through the campus tour.
Oh, and I didn't get in. Pretty much all I remember. 😀

I got an interview for sept. 8th. In the predental club we had a member of the admissions committee come and talk to us about Midwestern. He admitted that they have yet to sent one of their students to a residency program. I'm not sure what that means, others say it's not a great school if your looking for a lot of clinical experience. They have their students do external clinicals in the community so there is less doing and more waiting and observing I hear. Any wait, take this with a grain of salt, but I'm still going to accept the interview. 🙄

Dr. Rice, I just wanted to elaborate a bit on your post. First, the school has not yet graduated a class, so the reason that nobody has been accepted to a residency is because there have not been any graduates to apply to residency programs. Also, it is dificult to speculate on the amount of clinical experience the students will get because there are no classes currently in the clinic (which is still under construction). What you have described is merely their clinical model that they will implement in a couple years when the first class hits clinic. Good luck with your interview! I chose MWU because it semed like a great fit for me based on my interview day, and I encourage everyone else to come out if you're invited and see what MWU has to offer.

1/4 chance to get accepted to Midwestern, sigh!!

3/4 chance of not getting in 🙁... Better than 100%

ughh will everyone stop being so pessimistic....just remember that all schools hand out more acceptances than there are seats (because many applicants go on to different schools). So that 25% figure I think is probably false. It was probably calculated using the # seats/# interviewees, it says nothing about the total number of acceptances handed out.

Here's a question...I have not yet received an email inviting me for an interview from MWU, but my app has been "complete" for 2-3 weeks now, except for my supplemental app, which I submitted this past Saturday. I received an email from MWU stating I was complete and under review. Tonight, I logged into my MWU account (where you go to fill out the supplemental app) and clicked on the "Interview Scheduling link in the left sidebar, and it says "You have been invited to interview with the following program(s). A confirmation email will be sent to 'my email address'." And there is a link for me to schedule an interview! Does this mean I've been invited but just haven't been sent the email yet? Or am I just excited over nothing? 😕:xf:

It means they have selected you for an interview. I didnt get the e-mail either. the system isnt perfect. Just pick a date so your set. Good luck!

Sweet Action! Thanks!

SO usually how many days after you submit the supplemental application you will be invited for interviews??

it took 5 days from submitting my secondary to receiving invite. Am really excited about Midwestern, heard lots of positive info about the school.

Is there a seperate email that is sent after you receive the email to fill out the secondary? I ahve only received the secondary email but it sounds like there is an email stating your file is "complete"...? I know all my stuff is in but still haven't received a confirmation email from MW. Thanks

Midwestern interview everybody!
Last year, i got 15 RC and 13 QR and they also interviewed me!
Not want to burst your happiness but you really have to blow them at the interview!

Anyone get an interview here who have not taken the DAT/who have not had their scores sent to schools? I have received my secondary, but will not take my DAT for a couple weeks.

Just wondering if I should get going on the secondary or if I can wait a little while.

Wow, you guys are lucky. I have submitted my secondary over 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard. Called them and they said they haven't even looked at mine yet. Any ideas besides just sit and wait?

Any advice? I have to schedule my Midwestern interview, which they just offered me this morning, but I also applied to ASDOH and Western-which i have not been offered interviews for yet. Does anybody have any idea how long those Midwestern interview spots are available for me to select? I definitely want to attend the interview, but (and I know this is wishful thinking) I'm wanting to wait on scheduling it just a little bit in hopes of being offered interviews from ASDOH and/or Western. Then, depending on the scheduling, maybe I could just make one flight out west and try to put them all in the same week. Is this impossible?

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I got the secondary app email about 2 weeks ago and filled it out immediately, but never received an application complete email. Do they send one out? Everything on my checklist is done on the site, I'm just worried since I never got a confirmation that they had received everything.

I am wondering does Midwestern care about PAT too much????

Is there any advantage to taking earlier interviews with Midwestern's admissions process?

for those that are california residents, are you guys flying or driving?

Herme, I was the first interviewee on the first interview day last year with Dr. Polk and I got accepted. I think in general, all pre-december 1st interviewees have an edge over those interviewed later in the cycle. As for whether or not those invited to the first interview day have a better shot than the others I am not sure, but I wouldn't think so. At this point, it comes down to how well your interview goes. Good luck!

oh I def bombed my MW interview last year...I dont know why, I was REALLY nervous at Midwestern. I did fine at Western and UOP

Sweet, MWU interview for me! Mailing date was 7/17, completed supplemental about 2 weeks ago. Scheduled for October 6th

I was wondering if anyone here knows who will interviewing us this time?
The interview last year was really chill, D1 students seem really nice. But i heard that this year they will add the manual dexterity section, how should i prepare for this???
Thanks
