Midwestern

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just received my rejection letter from Midwestern last night. Discouraged is the best word I can think of. However, I'm still doing Post-Bacc classes, and maybe seeking out my MBA next year if other schools don't accept me.

How does Midwestern notify you of rejection or interview? Is it through e-mail or regular mail? Also, how long did it take most people to hear back from them after their applications were complete?

Has anyone been rejected post-interview yet, or these rejections without interviews?

Did anyone else get a rejection letter from Midwestern today. I cant understand it, people with sub 3.0s get an interview and I was rejected. Now I am very very discouraged. 😕

If you're referring to me, then I'll try to make you feel better..this is my 4th year applying..I currently have over a 3.5 in my Master's program and am scheduled to complete my MPH in May, which is something that both Arizona schools look highly upon. My GPA in undergrad was a 3.3...I struggled in o-chem and have a 2.9 Science Gpa. I also have every extra-curricular in the book along with a ton of dental experience.

Hope that helps shed the light on my sub 3.0 gpa...there's more than just numbers.

They asked about 6 questions, 5 of them were straight out of the Interview section of SDN and the last was something off the wall. Even that one shouldn't be too hard, basically high-school level knowledge stuff. There are 2 interviewers at once scoring your answers. Super friendly and helpful people if you're nervous like I was. The dean is very cool as well; when he met us he already knew some details about each person and was very easy to talk to. Lunch wasn't so great b/c the school's cafateria had a long, slow line. They said they might take students to eat somewhere off campus in the fututre. You also have to fill out an essay of approxiamtely 1 page. They give you 4 questions to choose from. 1 question looked pretty tough from an ethical viewpoint and another was tough from a technical viewpoint. The other 2 were softballs. I chose a softball to answer. Maybe not the bravest choice, but otherwise my essay would have been a lot of drivel.
May I ask if the essay questions are actually related to current events? And how long does the essay session last? Thanks!

They give you the essay towards the beginning of the day and have you turn it in by the end of the interview. You just write it during the 'down' times of the interview.

Questions are not anything you can't answer already. The point of the essay isn't to quiz you on current events/stats/information. The committee just wants an idea how your brain processes work and if you can write and think about something.

i got rejected. i have a sub 3.0.... they were the first application I completed too. in like, mid august.

I just sent out my 2ndary app...I hope i get an interview...They have offered a lot of interviews alreay tho, is there any room for late applicants?😎

Yes, I believe it has been mentioned in this thread that they are accepting about 60 of the class on Dec 1, and the other 40 thereafter, so it would seem to reason that later applicants will be considered.

I really hope i get accepted here.. 👍

I remember they did say that at the interview...but what I don't get is that don't schools normally accept about 1.5-2 times the class size just to account for those who don't choose to attend???

I think that would be highly irresponsible, even if the odds of every person accepting the offer is slim. From what I understand, MWU won't be accepting more than 60 on Dec 1, and will make up the slack afterwards.

Hey guys I just got the interview invite via email. How long did you have to wait until there online interview scheduler would accept your name and password? (I'm trying, during class and it keeps saying "Invalid Login"

I just received a letter today telling me to sign up online in the "interact now" button. How long did it take you to get an interview from this point?

I haven't taken one of the prereqs, Microbiology. Should I bother applying?

It's a pre-req course, not a recommended course. So you should have microbiology done. I'm currently enrolled in it. If you haven't taken Micro and you want to apply there for next year, I suggest you enroll in a micro class this spring semester and knock it out. That way you have all their pre-reqs done.

they are interviewing 12 people per day about 2-3 times a week. they said they were interviewing 400 people for the 100 spots. there were NO AZ residents the day i interviewed!!! yay for private schools!

Yay for private schools indeed. I am an international student from Taiwan. If it weren't for the private schools, my chance to get an interview would probably be significantly lower...

I just got a letter today saying that I "meet the minimum requirements and are eligible to move to the next phase of the admissions process". They gave me a student ID number and asked me to sign up on their website. What does this mean? Are my chances of getting an interview good or is this just a standard letter that everyone gets. Thanks for the help!

I turned in my secondary application over a month ago. Maybe they were just late getting me this letter to log into their website. Who knows!

As of 2 days ago, "about fifty" on the alternate list. AS spots open up the alternate list will be looked through again to fill spots.

Hey Lidopain, how do you know 50 are on the alternate list? I interviewed in Jan. and i'm on the top waiting list.. but i'm assuming that is the alternate list. Anyway, did you talk to the dean to find that out? And do you know how many seats still remain? I'm just praying that i don't get a rejection letter in the mail this week... :scared:

Hey I was interviewed on March 11th. I just got notified today. They said there is 100 reserved for alternate list and there is no ranking. As seats open up they review the people on the alternate list one by one. Better than a rejection but that means I have to prep up and study again for the DATs even though that wasn't a problem. As the new cycle for the following year opens up late next month I am going to go ahead and reapply as this will be my 3rd time!!!! Rather not take any chances!

Best of luck to everyone. Hopefully enough seats open up! (i'm trying to be positive... 😛)

I called the school today 4/15 and they said all final letters were sent yesterday.

Can you explain what you mean by final letters? Do you mean everyone will either get a rejection or an acceptance. Is there no waiting list till like the 1st day of class??

Yea, what do you mean by final letters... do you mean as far as who is accepted and who is rejected?? B/c the last letter i got was about 3 days ago saying i was still on the alt. list.
