Can someone help me with military friendly
Dental schools? I know Texas schools and Tennessee are military friendly. Are there any more? Thanks.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by military friendly. Are you talking about from the perspective of a veteran, or an HPSP student? One way I would define "military friendly" is by which schools fully participate in the Yellow Ribbon program so that the full cost of school is covered by the GI Bill. Off the top of my head, these include Louisville, U Mich, Pitt, Detroit Mercy, and possibly a few others. OHSU deserves an honorable mention for waiving out of state fees for those that work at a reserve unit in Oregon so in that case it would also be fully covered. In any case, I found all schools to be very welcoming. Although I am the first post 9/11 vet to attend Harvard, I can say everyone at the school has been more than welcoming.
If you're talking about going there as an HPSP student, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're basically still a civilian when you're in school and all of them would be happy to take that federal funding. Hope that helps.

Thank you.
I am applying this year. You helped me a lot. Thanks again.

If you are using the G.I. Bill, it is updated annually and varies A LOT from year to year. It will cover full in-state tuition/fees at your state of residence or tops off at 20K out of state unless they have tuition matching through Yellow Ribbon.

How yellow ribbon works-example: U Pennslyvania has an unlimited number of 10K they will give to veteran G.I. Bill dental students. If you are out of state, this means 20K is initially covered, and the goverment will also match 10K from Penn for a total of 40K discount. This still leaves approx 60K in debt per year.

Case Western and Detroit Mercy offered full tuition last year and they dropped it for dental this year. Go to "http://www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/yellow_ribbon/yrp_list_2013.asp" after it updates on June 1st this year to see about 2015. You will have to click through it state by state to find the schools that use it. Also, they can limit the number of slots i.e. Louisville on will do 5 of these scholarships...

I am only applying to my state schools and Yellow Ribbon schools. Good luck.

I qualify for vocational rehab, so I'm hoping to use that for D school.
