Military Physical Therapy

Hi I'm a Junior and a Kinesiology major working towards becoming a physical therapist . I would really like to become a Physical Therapist in the military. I have done a lot of research on Baylor University and the direct commissioning option after regular physical therapy school. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any more advice or information that may help me reach my goal. Thank you!

I believe you have to get some observation experience in a military setting/rehabilitation facility and get a reccomendation from a military physical therapist. Also, keep your grades up and do well on GRE, it is very competitive to get into the Baylor program. I have considered applying there as well. You will also need to be active Air Force, if you want to get in as an Air Force PT, I believe there are slots for civilians to get into the program's Army branch PT, but being enlisted really helps. Hi, to my knowledge you do not have to have your observations done at a military hospital. Have you spoken to a military healthcare officer recruiter? They will outline everything you will need and can even help you obtain a military PT interview for your recommendation requirements. You have to be eligible for a commissioning as well as be accepted into the Baylor program.

Thank you. I found my healthcare officer recruiter, I will email them. On the Navy Healthcare website it says they recommend a letter of recommendation from an active military physical therapist. Now to find one...

Your recruiter can also help you get in contact with an active duty PT. Expect some form of interview. I didn't go the Baylor route but I'm definetly going back active duty when i graduate. Good luck!
