Are there any major adverse side effects of running milrinone thru a fast PIV vs central line? Unlike epi and such it vasodilates..
In my case the milrinone was for neuro reasons not cardiac

Milrinone can go peripheral just fine. No issues with infiltration.

There are small recent studies that show benefit. I dont think there has been a large double blind study yet. But if vasospasm is crippling the patient in the ICU, I'd definitely give it a try.

absolutely. the moment they are found to have intracranial hemorrhage i give them mega doses of vitamin c

I've seen some run intra-arterial milrinone for vasospasm protection post-SAH in our neuro ICU
