I've noticed from other threads that minimum pass levels for basic science courses tend to differ by school, ranging from 60-70 from what I've seen. I guess this is just a bit surprising to me. I know that undergrads had different grading systems, but generally they had the 90+-A 80+-B and so on system. Do you think these differing MPLs make much of a difference in what/how much we learn in the end?

If you get a 65% on an exam, it doesn't matter what you call that (whether pass/fail), it still means that you've demonstrated knowledge of 65% of the material you were being tested on.

This. 👍

I could have gotten a "pass" on all my exams by scoring 95%, while Student B down the road at School Y scored a "high pass" with a 85%.

In the end, your schools may have a/b/c/f or honors/hp/p/f or just p/f, but I am sure that majority of school still ranked by the %% you receive in the class. I could have a 4.0 at my school and have a lower class rank then someone with a 3.8 as they have a higher percentage then my overall.
