Does anyone know any absolute minimum USMLE scores for surgery and OB/GYN residencies? I want to stay on the east coast, in either Maryland, Delaware, NJ, Pennsylvania or New York. I passed the USMLE but I did not do well at all. My grades in medical school are very good (almost all honors and high passes) & I did research the summer between my 1st and 2nd year. I am a 3rd year medical student and I'm interested in either surgery or OB/GYN. If anyone knows what schools have minimum USMLE requirements for Step 1, please let me know. Is there a list you can get from somewhere?? Thank you!!

ob-gyn is wide open for us grads, especially if you are a man. it is an awful field, however.

surgery is competitive, but I don't think there are minimums, and there are many programs. since you are just starting your ms3 year why not just do well; also realize you might change your mind.

The absolute minimum is 182. All these things are totally dependent on you. I am sure that with a weak score but really great 4th yr electives and good 3rd yr grades you could still match just not at a top notch place.
