I am having a hard time deciding between the two schools, and any input would be greatly appreciated...

My two biggest concerns are cost and clinical experience.

Even though Minnesota would give a tuition break, if I receive the WICHE scholarship from my state Creighton would be at least $20000 cheaper per year. Only a couple incoming dental students receive the funding each year due to limited state funds, so the scholarship is far from gauranteed. I really liked how Minnesota is progressing; especially the new sim lab which will be complete this summer. The school was a lot nicer than Creighton. But is this worth not going to a school "possibly" $20000 per year cheaper??

I also know Creighton would give me a great clinical education, but I am not sure about Minnesota. I have heard in the past that U of M grads aren't very good for the first year or two out of school as compared to Creighton grads. But the new dean that came in a couple years ago has changed the curriculum and seems to be doing really great things. One dentist went on to say it will "be the best dental school in the nation in the next 5 years". Don't know about that...

Any comments would help

Interesting. I was told Minnesota offers great clinical experience. Although, they are also quickly becoming a prominent research school. Funny though, I was also accepted to Creighton among a few others and so far Mineesota is my number one choice despite the cost. I think they offer one of the best balanced educations in the nation.

I also know that because Creighton doesn't offer any specialization programs that the students get to work on a wide variety of cases that would normally get shuttled off to those students specializing. I definitely weighed that aspect as well. Good luck in your decision. Maybe I'll see in Minneapolis this fall.
