Hey guys!

I searched a bit on the U of M, but didn't find much.......here is my dilemma.
I am out of state, August MCATer, currently complete at ~20 schools. I just received the U of M secondary today much to my surprise.

My MCAT is a bit lower than their average, but my GPA is 3.9 science and overall. Does anyone know what their screening process entails? Would it be worth it to send this secondary in this late? I have 2 interviews right now and one more scheduled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ! 😀

I wouldn't say you are too late.

I got in to the U of MN through the Early Decision Program.

I know the U of MN gives STRONG preference to in-staters. If your MCAT is weak then the rest of your app will have to be quite strong if you are to be competitive (your GPA is a nice start).

Good luck!

May I be the living example that stats 👎 . Don't worry I just came back from interviewing @ UMN and had an awesome time. In short, CA applicant 29 MCAT, 3.71 GPA (FARRR from ideal). They explained in the interview that their screening is much stronger this year than before. Just getting a secondary is a great step and you have a good chance for interview. And if you're interviewed you have an great chance for accept. It may seem obvious that this is what most schools woudl say but they seem to put it that they have a pretty hard pre-secondary screen and even harder interviewing screen. So just give it a shot!

Do you think it's possible that U of M takes a composite best of MCAT scores? I just am really surprised I got a secondary if they're "screening hard" this year. I have a 30 if the scores are combined, but otherwise only a 26.
