I received an invitation to interview at UMN at the end of the month. This gives me fairly short notice to prepare. Is anyone familiar with which campus -- Duluth or Twin Cities -- is preferable to to interview at? It appears to be my choice. Also, is anyone familiar with the interview process at UMN in general? This is my first interview, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

I am from Minnesota, so I will try to answer your questions. Duluth is a new program-like 2 or 3 years old. From what I understand, they do some video telecasting of some classes and have faculty teach others. The biggest difference between the Minneapolis and Duluth campuses is location. Duluth is a small city around 100,000, and you have great access to outdoor recreational activities. The Minneapolis campus is in the middle of Minneapolis/St Paul, so a much more urban environment. Since that is the main hub of the U of MN, its very busy, with a lot of clubs, activities, research etc going on, and many hospitals and other environments (law makers, etc) that you have access to. It depends where you want to go afterward-I believe Duluth is more geared towards people who would enjoy a rural practice. I am sure both programs are equally good, but I am also sure you have more clinical opportunities in Minneapolis. Oh-you do know what the winters are like there, right? Lots of snow and very cold. Good luck!

Thanks, adventurer -- great info! 👍

I'm leaning towards the Twin Cities campus. I attend an urban university now and really have enjoyed the diverse atmosphere. On Minnesota's harsh winters, I'm also a native Midwesterner. The cold doesn't scare me off... 😉
