Hey fellow SDNers,

For a number of different reasons (which are starting to feel like bad excuses at this point), I have not yet turned in my supplemental application to the University of Minnesota.

My AADSAS mailed in early-mid July, so I am looking around a 1 month gap between when my app was received and when my supplemental will have been submitted.

I have seen at least 1 interview invite already been given by Minnesota, and I'm just wondering if anybody has any idea/thoughts about how far behind the 8 ball I've put myself.

On a side note, is anybody else still wrestling with the two 6000 character-limit essays (the only thing holding me back at this point)?

Thanks ahead guys.

oh my god i am in the same situation as you.......those two essays are so painful.......they're just the same thing as the aadsas app. i think i'm just gonna send it out tomorrow anyways. I mailed my aadsas on July 20.......hope for the best i guess

Well I was in the first batched and received an interview invite from them on Aug 4th. You should check if they have any deadline for the supplemental (2 weeks max for UCSF for example). I think schools generally want you to turn them in relatively close to the date they notify you though.

Are the two 6000 character essays the orientations to dentistry and the reapplicant essays? I don't know if you're concerned about the length, I don't think they have to be close to 6000 char if that's what you're wondering. Mine were not even 4000 for both. You just have to describe the dental experiences you already listed on your supplemental application and what you got away from it, which should be relatively easy since those lists are basically your outlines. Quality over quantity 😀

As for the reapplicant essay...well alot of other schools require these too, so writing one that's polished will help you in the long run for this cycle.

Don't worry about how late it is at this point, do your best and get it in! Good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Autoclavemonkey: Congrats on the interview! Thankfully I am not a reapplicant, so the two essays I was referencing were the diversity and the orientation to dentistry ones. In any case, thanks for the input.

Time to get to work so I can relax!
