Stealthdog..

does the letter tell you what number you are on the waitlist? or is that something that you can call for and find out?

and thanks for that info! I'd be very disappointed as well....

So can someone please clarify, do they send out a big envelope for both accpetance and waitlist...Man the wait is getting to me. Thanks

It sounds like in years past, waitlists and acceptances have gone out in big envelopes...but of course I don't really know for sure.

I know how you feel. I dream about large vs. small envelopes. My family thinks I'm crazy. But I think about it all the time, going over what I said in the interview...sometimes I think I did well, other times I think maybe I blew it but didn't realize it at the time. I don't know--I did my best but the odds aren't great for OOS. Hang in there, millie and everybody else. :luck:

Don't bet on the size of the envelope (although I can't say for sure, of course)! My envelope from Illinois was ONE page telling me I received an interview spot and that I could find all the info about the interview online! I know we're talking about acceptances, not interviews, but you still never know.

I also think the same way about my interview performance. I knew I was way too nervous for Iowa, but I thought I kicked *** at Illinois. Now, I've been looking back on Illinois thinking, "Maybe I didn't do as well as I thought. Maybe I sounded too much like a traditional applicant. Did I stand-out enough?!" Who knows! 😕 Only time will tell... good luck to you (and everyone else who interviewed at MN!) :luck:

I have been feeling the EXACT same way!!! I'm slowly driving myself insane by thinking about it!:scared: Sometimes I think back and feel I did really well, and other times I feel like I have no chance of admission. Let's just hope they are sending out letters early in March!!! Good luck to all! :luck:

Yeah, my letter told me I was 14 out of 34. I waited until late April or early May to call and get an update on where I was, called again in mid June, and got a called from them offering me a spot in mid-July. The admin folks were always super nice when I called to see where I was on the waitlist.

do they send out a big envelope for both accpetance and waitlist.

Keep in mind, this was two years ago, but I did get a BIG envelope with my waitlist letter. I assume people who got accepted right away also got a big envelope, but I guess I can't say for sure...

I find that I'm having trouble sleeping nower days because I'm just constantly thinking and trying to remember what exactly I said during my interview and if it was a good response or not! I know it's horrid because there's absolutely nothing I can do about it now... but I can't help it!

I'm really glad if you get waitlisted.. at least they tell you where you are on the waitlist.... it will take the edge off a little in case I get that waitlist letter... thanks for the info StealthDog!

P.S. Hobiecat... I love your new picture icon!! I'm totally feeling that picture too.... blahhh..!

Thanks! Yeah, that's pretty much how I'm feeling. I'm trying to come up with little projects, like cleaning my room, getting another job, etc. to keep myself busy. I'm only taking biochem I this semester, and so far I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Good luck with the waiting, everyone. :luck:

I also have been feeling the same way.... yesterday, I felt that I totally blown my interview at Mich State and that I have NOOOOOO chance at admission... :scared: I am also driving myself and my family insane..... 😱

Here's hoping that letters come soon.... good luck to everyone waiting :luck:

btw.... love your avatar Hobiecat1642!!! =)

Feeling crappy one minute and fine the next about interviews. There's no way we know until they decide and even then we don't know what it was that put us in or out!

Anyone know when MN is planning on getting out letters? They are done with interviews, right? I can't remember.......

I'm almost positive they are done with interviews already. I was told we would find out in "early to mid March" Lets hope early!!!

Yes please! I'm having crazy dreams. Last night I dreamt that U of M called me, and they said, "okay, now you've made it past the 2nd round." And I said, " you mean I'm accepted?" and they said "no, now it's time for the second secret interview." so I went out again to Minn, and the secret interview consisted of them trying to make me do silly things to prove my worth. Like, for example, the hokey pokey. I kid you not. So yes, l'm eagerly awaiting March.

I'm not even sure where/if I posted this anymore, but I was dreaming about admissions too -- maybe its in the WI thread? You are not alone!

lately I've had no dreams at all. Just having problems being able to fall asleep because I can't shut off my brain! I so hope we all hear good news from Minnesota!!! I'm going to be devastated if I don't get in.

hey.. anyone know when minnesota orientation and classes start....? is it august or sept?

their oreintation is in august, and not sure when classes start

so does that mean the orientation for U of Mn would be at the end of August I guess?

BTW, some of the student ambassadors were telling us about their sleepover orientation and it sounded like a lot of fun!! 🙂 Did you go to that orientation Stealthdog?

Same here! At least tomorrow is March 1st and I feel like I can officially start looking for a letter!!! :luck:

🙁:bullcrap::d+pity+:cry:

You guys should be finding out soon!

Holy crap, you got yours already? I'm sorry that you were waitlisted. I'm not really expecting to get in at all.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it yet either! I'm IS though.

Waitlisted #1 🙂 I think I have a shot!!!! :luck::luck::luck:

that's hysterical - congrats, carrbear21!

I'd be horrified if you don't get in as #1. I mean, certainly SOMEONE is going to decline! I think it's a near given that you'll be in... but to a certain extent, how frusturating to not be in, but to be sure that you will be! ahh! a mind-bender!

^Seriously, there is no way you wouldn't get in. You should be ecstatic!

Hey all, new to this. Just got my waitlist letter from the U. Have spent the last couple of hours (OK, I did shed a few tears first) obsessing on the internet trying to find out how far down they tend to go on the waitlist. Any ideas? I am a MN resident.

best source for that info will be last year's acceptance and Minnesota threads... i don't have time to find them for you, but it should be easy to do!

Oh great, I just got done sweatin' the Illinois letter's arrival and now I have to start up again with MN.

Ahh! I'm gone for a day (not even a day -- and afternoon and evening), and my other school sends out decisions! ahhh!

CONGRATULATIONS CARRBEAR! I've been rooting for you SO SO SO MUCH!

Congrats to all others waitlisted! We'll see how the line moves ... I'm really hoping good things for all of you!

Ironically, I might NOT figure out when my letter will get here. This odd calm has taken over me .... however, now that I've said that, I'll start obsessing 🙂

Congrats everyone again, best of luck on a very mobile line!

Just a heads-up: my alternate letter came in a BIG ENVELOPE-- as in 8.5x11-- with 2 sheets of paper. Thanks to SDN I knew not to freak out until I opened it. Just an FYI! 😎

AHHH! CONGRATS EVERYONE!! and #1 on the waitlist is def a good spot!! awesome job carrbear! 🙂

I was reading through last year's forums and it looks like even the out-of-staters got their letters the day after the in-staters? do you think us out of staters will hear this week?? oh the wait is so much harder now that March has rolled around.... 😛

Oh Jesus, I'm so nervous.

I would assume they sent them all at the same time but who knows.

THANK YOU for all the congrats. Still a tad-bit premature but here's hoping!:luck:

only a little bit premature, though carrbear! Congrats, that's awesome. 👍🙂🙂🙂

I just want to say good luck to everyone still waiting. It looks like last year, letters all went out at the same time. :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Good luck to everyone on the waitlist...I'm hoping that I can meet all of you this fall! Yesterday as I walked to my mailbox, I thought to myself---this is probably the last day that I won't wonder if there's a letter from MN, because sometime next week we can start expecting the letters. I was shocked to see the letter from MN, and even more shocked to find out that I was accepted! I've been stressing out so much the last few weeks since the interview, and now I can finally relax. As one of my friends currently in vet school told me, the real stress starts when you actually get to vet school!

Good luck & best wishes to everyone still waiting to hear from MN

Some friends recently convinced me to join Facebook...it's dorky yet addicting! I just started a group for U of MN CVM class of 2012, in case any one is interested. PM me & I'll send you the link for the group.

Once again, good luck to everyone!

Thanks! HYSTERICAL is what I'd be if I don't get in! 😱
hmm do you know if they seperate the IS from the OOS waitlist? If they do, that means an IS person would have to decline...

chris03333, they do separate the in staters from out of staters, and while there's a chance that no in-staters decline, the year that I got accepted they went at least down to #14 on the waitlist. I think carrbear can probably celebrate 🙂

Congratulations on those who have heard, and good luck to those still waiting!!

CONGRATS sheltervet! :hardy: I hope to be in your class ! :luck:

congrats sheltervet!!!

If anyone finds out how far down the IS waitlist they have gone in the last few years please post!

You could always call and ask? The school would know the most accurately. And I feel like they would tell you, so that you can gauge your chances ....

regarding the IS waitlist, I assume that how far down they go on it probably varies a little from year to year.

One of the vets I work with graduated from MN a few years ago, and she didn't get off of the waitlist until a week or two before classes began (unfortunately I don't know what number she was on the waitlist).

I hope us out of staters get our letters tomorrow.... I can't wait any longer!!! 😱
