Hi,

I'm an undergraduate student majoring in communicative
disorders with a concentration in audiology. I have a question
about minoring in biology or in any other kinds. Which would
be good to have before applying and entering in an AuD program?
If bio is one option, what specific courses do you recommend?

Here's what i've taken:
general anatomy
general biology I
Chemistry I
Chemistry II

And here's what my options are:
General biology II
general physiology
biochemistry I and II
microbiology
genetics
stem cell biology
molecular biology
cell biology
cell culture

Thank you,

-Steph

You will most likely need Anatomy & Physiology I & II as opposed to General Bio I & II. However, look at the pre-req requirements for the program(s) that you are interested in applying to.

current asha requirements only stipulate one biology class and one physical science class for certification. so if you need a specific class or more than a semester of each, it would be a requirement of the specific school you're applying to, not asha. i would just take what interests you what you feel you'd do best in. cell bio would probably be useful if you plan on doing hair cell research.

Thank you! I will look into the AuD programs and see what they require or would like to see us have under belt.

I'm definitely open to hear more from you guys! :)
