hello guyss...i was considering in minoring in business.. but i dont know if i should minor in management, finance, or marketing?? A fourth option would be to minor in just business, which would requires at least 15 credits from any Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, or marketing courses.

So my question which option would be best looked upon in helping getting an interview or maybe an acceptance.

by the way, im majoring in chem, and most likely minor in biochemistry.. thanks in advance..

I had a minor in business management, and I doubt anyone on the admissions committees care one bit about it. It was never brought up in my interviews. However I personally enjoyed it because it taught me the basics of business and enough to know that I will need a CPA for my finances in the future.

so would u recommend minoring in just business rather than business management.???

honestly I would say finance would be a better route to minor because you are going to need the basic business classes to get there and then you will be able to read an expense report.

simple

major/minor in whatever interests you most and excel

DON'T DO IT! I minored in general management and I regret it. Not only did it take up a LOT more time but it doesn't help at all with managing a practice in the future. My advice is either major in it (not double major) if you really have a love and take science reqs on the side or ditch the idea completely. ADCOMs doesn't care at ALL about a minor in business. I speak from first hand knowledge... and the minor hasn't helped me in life either. The classes are too general.... and they load you up with BS courses you will forget/never use after that semester.

Focus on your grades in ONE major. I think you will find it a LOT easier to manage your time. Good luck in whatever you decide and feel free to PM me.

Some dental schools I interviewed at said they will bring professionals in and teach you some of the business aspects. You will not be a clean cut business man, but will have (hopefully) some direction.

OP - 100% do it. It is absolutely worth it. Even if it doesn't matter to the adcoms (as your original question asked), it will pay dividends once you begin practicing. I would choose management or a general business minor. Finance tends to lean towards corporations, which will be useless. P/E and acid-test ratios are important for stockbrokers, but not small business owners.
