I just recently took the DAT and recieved 18's and 19's except for a low verbal score. I've been calling dental schools to find out if I would have a better chance of getting into some, due to minority recruiting. I haven't gotten a straight answer from any of them. Any input would be great.

It seems kind of shady to go around asking, "Hey, is the fact that I'm a minority going to make up for my mediocre DAT scores?" Instead, just go on the websites and see if they mention any committment to such a cause. Just apply and see what happens. Often, they may not say it directly but, when the time comes for admission decisions to be made, it could play a factor.

I think this is a great time for minorities to enter the medical field. But don't count on that too much. Do your best in all areas and consider been a minority a plus in your application.
