How do you record miscellaneous types of activities on the application?
For example, I have about a 100 hours cleaning up the beach, volunteering at a senior home, making care packages, volunteering at hospital benefit events, etc.

Second, how do you record tutoring peers? I'm a chem major, and have about 150 hours tutoring freshmen and sophomore in the department for no pay. It's experience, but i don't know how to list it.

Thanks beforehand 🙂

Have you opened AMCAS yet? The options those go in should be moderately clear, e.g. volunteering non-clinical, or some such.

When you complete the experience section of the AMCAS you'll use a pull down menu to classify the activity into one of about 16 categories including "Teaching and Tutoring", "Employment, non-Military", "Volunteer, Clinical/Medical", "Volunteer, non-clinical", "Hobbies and Advocations", "Artistic Endeavors", etc. As you can see, there is often overlap and you can choose which category you want. You then title the activity (e.g. Chemistry tutor, Peer Tutor, Research Assistant, Chief Cook and Bottle Washer), name the location, provide the name of a contact person at that place (if applicable), and state the start and end date (month & year only) and the average number of hours per week during that time period. So, keep track of your hours and activities. If you do random community service here & there you don't need the name of every food pantry boss you've worked for, but if you work at a place for any length of time, you should have the name of someone as evidence othat what you are saying is correct (I found someone who listed a contact who had left the facility years before the start date listed).
