So I noticed that certain schools require an anatomy course as part of the prereqs. Unfortunately, even though I really wanted to take it, anatomy was cancelled at UCI when I tried to take it because of budget cut backs and I was unable to take this course before I graduated. Is it possible to still get accepted to the dental school without this completed requirement if I just do it before I get in? I was planning on taking it at the local community college during either the fall or spring semesters of 2010/2011 along with any other prereqs that the school may require that I didn't finish (although I'm pretty sure this is the only course I wasn't able to take). Hopefully someone can answer this cause its kinda scaring me. On a side note I was able to complete physiology and physiology lab because it was offered and microbiology and microbiology lab just not the anatomy and lab.

I personally think you'll be fine. If a particular school does list that as a requirement and you are fortunate enough to be given acceptance, I'm sure they'll let you know that you should take it as pre-reqs only need to be finished prior to matriculation. Good luck!

The real irony was that although UCI used to offer an anatomy lecture, I think most of the schools that required anatomy also wanted a lab, which UCI didn't even offer. I know I was frustrated with this when I was at UCI. I think the CC route would be fine, especially with the special circumstances of UCI.

One note, anatomy classes at CC's are often gatekeeper classes for their Nursing programs, so they often fill up VERY fast, so if you do need to take one, be sure to register ASAP.

Thx Vic, dude you give me hope. My stats are almost identical and I'm also Hispanic, sadly we didn't get to meet each other over at UCI =D. Congrats on your acceptance to Columbia, not aiming as high as you but hopefully I get in somewhere in Cali so I can stay close to home... I just hope I do as well as you did on the DAT, seems like I've been studying endlessly and its on 14th of July. I almost feel like my dads friend when he was studying for the NBDE I and II for 16hrs straight over in our guest room when he graduated from a california certified dental school in Guanajuato, Mexico. Luckily he just passed this time around but looking through his books and dental decks I realized how much easier my material was than his which made decide to try harder cause this ain't close to being the last step. But yeah hopefully this anatomy and lab requirement doesn't screw me over.

Also anyway you could link me your RC strat? I remember reading it but I can't find it anymore. I wanted to try it on the Crack reading that I just bought.

Were you involved with ASDA at UCI? I was an officer before I graduated last year. And yeah, LLU was my dream school, but I never got in off the waitlist, so I'm finishing up my first year at Pitt right now. Haha, and yeah, I'm about to start studying for the NBDE I in about 3 weeks, and I'm really not looking forward to spending just about my entire summer vacation studying for the boards! haha.

I've linked my RC strategy below, but remember, the biggest factor in doing well in RC is finding the strategy that works best for you, so take your time and figure that out. Good luck, and let me know if you've got any other questions!
