What happens if you miss a final exam without prior notice?
Do you automatically get a zero if you don't give supporting documents afterwards?
Could they let you take the exam at a different time even if you don't present any documents?
I've been really sick for a few weeks and I couldn't do anything. :(
Now I'm not ready for the finals which are in two days. I have lots of catching up to do and it's late to learn them now. It's just too much material.
I don't have any supporting documents because I recovered by just staying home and sleeping all day for several days straight.

Umm... I'm almost 100% sure that every student here has battled their way through some form of illness or another, right before exams. Oh, and they probably wrote the exam, too.

the answer will vary from school to school, so no one on this board will be able to answer you as precisely as your dean/counselor/classmates will.

my guess is that you'll need a very good reason, i.e., a grave sickness, debilitating accident or a death in the family...

this is completely ridiculous....you have two days left....stop complaining and start studying

i'm quite sure that if you just don't bother to show up to an exam on monday and you're perfectly healthy and then show up the next day and try to explain yourself without as much as a doctor's note the prof will laugh at you as he gives you an F

You should have contacted your professors ahead of time. Now, in hindsight, I don't see anything working for you.

Are you respected and liked by your profs? You might be able to get one or two of them to schedule your exams until the end of the exam cycle. That would give you a few days. BTW, I took a practical lab exam in Biology with the flu. I had to sit on the floor and tuck my head in between my legs to keep from throwing up on the fetal pigs between sections.

Hey, how about you ask your PROFESSOR these important questions and not other anonymous premeds on an internet forum? That would seem like a much better option.

It depends on the professor and your status in class. If you've established credibility by showing up to every lecture and doing homework and participating in class discussions, some prof. would let you take the test. Some prof. know that there are things in life that could happen any day... And for undergraduates, it's during the test days, lol. :D

Why weren't you studying when you were at home? Did you get ebola or something?

why in the world would you ask us??????????????!!!!!

Email your professor or check your syllabus.

If you miss this exam, you can't say: "but Premedd2923 on the Internet said that I would be able to retake it on Tuesday"

    seriously....

Not sure if this will make you feel better, but one time in college (a long time ago) I completely missed the final because I had written down the wrong date. So I show up to the classroom and nobody was there! I re-checked the exam schedule and realized that the exam had occurred a day earlier!!

I called the professor, a little hysterical, and he let me make up the final (luckily).

:barf:I still get a little shiver of terror and horror every time I think of that experience.

As everyone has and will continue to tell you, your proffessors are the only one who can answer this question.

    *Advice*
    1) Don't wait until the last freaking minute to cram study materials, this won't work if you want to get into med school.
    2) TALK TO SOMEONE IF YOUR SICK! When it is your word on the line, unless you have good standing with others (which, as it turns out, sounds like your proffessors don't really know you) it is worthless to them.

I think this guy needs some common sense. Always starting random, pointless threads seeking advice on this or that, then never responding. Watch him pop up in a few days with a new thread on how to protest final grades...

I'm feeling pretty terrible as well but I pretty much expected it with finals coming up. Just push through it I'm sure you are capable of it.

1)Call your doctor, ask him for a note.
2)Talk to your teacher, ask about giving you extra time, give the note to your teacher.

There, now was that so hard. Good God, where's the common sense nowadays.

I got out of finals for now because I had emergency surgery the week of finals... I wish I could have taken finals it would be more fun than being on the couch in pain all week... I did have a note though from my surgeon and I will take exams in january to make them up and take the incomplete off my record for a grade instead...

glad that the op sucked it up though- if you have been sick a few weeks and needed out you should have seen a doctor.
