I've never had a problem with missing school before, as none of my classes had attendance requirements. This year, however, I decided to take a few easy/fun classes... and lo and behold, they suddenly have attendance requirements. Because I have two interviews, I'll be missing two of the three days allowed. If I hit three days, I'll be dropped from the classes and get a lovely bunch of F/Ws on my transcript, lose a full scholarship, and I'll be unable to graduate with honors and write my thesis.

I've already sent emails and talked to the professors involved and haven't gotten a concrete answer from any of them as to whether they'll excuse my absences. I've also contacted my advisors and, predictably, haven't heard back. Obviously, I don't want to reject an interview if I'm lucky enough (fingers crossed) to get another...

Has anyone else had this problem/how did you resolve it?

In person >>>>> Emails

It's a lot harder to dodge a question face to face: go to professors office hours and plead your case. I suspect most professions will listen to reason.

I would go to the Dean. At my school, we have a senior class Dean. For my interviews, I have been forwarding him the emails from the schools with the interview details. Then he emails my teachers, telling them that my absence is excused for that day! So, maybe try reaching out to your dean, as I am sure all schools allow excused absences for things such as dental/medical/grad school and job interviews! Goodluck!
