Just got back from my third mission abroad. Now that I'm a resident, I was taking notice of some of the slick stuff that the other docs had-things they eventually bought to build an armory of small and useful things, they had needed in the past, but didn't have. Besides the obvious headlamp, otoscope, etc, I am hoping for some input of things people have in their personal mission kits (not the general supplies brought by the team). some of the docs had a handheld EKG iphone case with app, mini pulse oximeter, alligator forceps/ear curettes for ear issues.

I was thinking about a mini UV flashlight as a wood's lamp type device for corneal abrasions/ fungal infections, etc.


anybody else got some must haves that they have discovered and added to their stash?

I've been on a mission trip with a doc who carried a portable ultrasound in a backpack.
